King Bethel
King was born and raised on the east side of the historical city of Detroit, also known as Motown. At two years old, he fell in love with singing. As a student of the Detroit Academy of Arts and Sciences, he performed with their award-winning show choir as one of the lead vocalists. During his time in choir, the group garnered a Michigan Emmy and two Detroit Music Awards.
Since then, King has performed the U.S. National Anthem at three NBA basketball games, one MLB game, a halftime show for the Motorcity Cruise, performed alongside Faith Evans, opened for the Commodores, Kanye West Sunday Service, Good Morning America, the Today Show, America’s Thanksgiving Parade, Governor's Service Awards, and many more.He's also performed for the likes of Berry Gordy Jr; Motown Records Founder, Smokey Robinson, Otis Williams of the Temptations, Vivica A. Fox, Hellava, and Zaytoven, just to name a few.
He auditioned for NBC's "The Voice" and lived in Burbank, CA, for three months during his time. With inspiration from Prince, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, and Jamie Foxx, King writes, produces, and engineers his work as well as the work of his clients. He has done freelance audio engineering work for Motown Museum's Hitsville Next artists and events after being a student of their summer programs for 6 years. Aside from the Motown Museum summer programs, King attains a well-balanced and creative musical education through programs like the Gener8tor Music, Music Makers, Verses summer program, Insideout Literary Arts, and Class Act Detroit.
As an actor, he performs stage plays and film productions. He is a theatre minor and a member of the Freedom Players Theatre Ensemble at Wayne State University. He's playing the lead role in Jonah and the Job Description (written and directed by Don Hart) and played a supporting role in One Sleepy Night, in Detroit (written by Don Hart and directed by John Sloan). He played a supporting role in Scars, Sins, and Secrets (written by Lisa Gaters and directed by Shawnta McDougal). He played the leading role in Higher and Higher: The Jackie Wilson Story, a film written by the late Brenda Wilson and directed by Lyriq.
