From the Fiddle Kid to BC Class of 2028 Daniel Gillis will be a freshman at BC in the fall

Daniel Gillis is far from a stranger to Boston College. It’s where his great-grandfather, grandfather, and father earned their degrees; where his uncle and father played hockey; and where his mother worked. It’s also where Danny became famous in his own right.

As a young child attending a men's hockey game, the video board camera found Danny in the crowd "air fiddling" along with the rest of the BC fans to “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” during the second intermission. The crowd was captivated, and just like that, the “BC Fiddle Kid” was born.

Now, 10 years later, Danny will attend plenty of hockey games—and other BC events—not just as a fan but as a student. That’s right! The BC Fiddle Kid will be a freshman on the Heights in the fall of 2024. Take a look back at how it all came to be.

He became a well-known staple at BC hockey games, sought out for selfies and social media posts.

He even made a celebrity appearance in Boston College's "Happy" viral video

And maybe some had an inclination of what his future might be.

It was well noted when he returned to the Heights and Daniel was recognized off campus - very far off campus - too.

Welcome to the Heights and the Class of 2028, Daniel!
