Who am I?
I'm Lou, and I'm a passionate Sound Recordist, occasional Sound Designer and somewhat competent Musician.
HOW I GOT HERE
My dream job as a child was being Doctor Who. Once it became clear that acting wasn't my forte, I've been consumed by being behind the camera, and more specifically: behind the boom pole. For the better part of 10 years, I've been recording, designing, composing and learning sound for film, tv and youtube.
Background and Education
After realising Acting wasn't for me, I've been dedicated to learning film theory and production since I was 13. I studied Film throughout secondary school from GCSE to A-Level. I dissected and wrote academically about feature and short film alongside constantly creating my own films that were shaped by this learning. Alongside this, I've been learning and recording music since age 7, developing a skill-set in guitar, bass guitar, drums and keyboards. Saxophone is next.
Since 2023, I've been a dedicated Sound Specialist at Bournemouth Film School- hyper-focused on capturing high quality location sound recordings across university and independent projects.
Methodology
Location Sound isn't just recording dialogue- it's capturing performance and the magic of the narrative world of film. In all areas of sound capture, it feels easy to settle on the minimum requirement- clear delivery. However, by creating the best possible technical conditions, sound capture goes beyond this.
Through understanding the technical requirements and conditions in order to create high quality recordings, it allows my work to move beyond those goals- encapsulating movement, action and every little hesitation and contraction that makes performance feel real.

I have had the privilege of being recognised for my work in Sound and as a filmmaker, alongside opportunities to secure accreditations in my professional work.
