Content Info For The Week
Math (Carver, Beasley, and Meeks):
Algebra I (Meeks):
This week, students will begin exploring transformations. Students will work on translating, rotating, reflecting, and dilating objects on a coordinate grid. Students will have homework that is due on Thursday.
Read 180 (Styron and Barker):
This week students will begin working in workbook 7 titled Vanished!. In exploring this workshop students will Use active viewing and listening strategies to build background and content knowledge about key ideas from a video, use content-area vocabulary and generate relevant examples to deepen understanding of a central content-area concept, Identify the key idea of an informational text, and Use text evidence accurately when explaining the meaning of a text.
ELA (MacArthur and Lee):
This week in Mr. MacArthur's class, the students will continue reading "The Outsider" chapters 5-8. Students will have a quiz on Thursday over these chapters. Additionally, we will begin practicing with sensory detail, and Point of View to prepare students for their Performance Task 2 assessment. This will have the students take a scene from the book, and rewrite it from a different point of view.
This week in Mrs. Lee's ELA class, students will continue working on their novel study of "Bad Boy: A Memoir." We will continue to examine how the events of Walter's life impacted him and led him to become a famous writer. Students will be given the opportunity to retake their Chapter 5-10 quiz on Monday, August 30.
9th Grade Lit (Lee):
This week in Mrs. Lee's class, students will continue their analysis of The Odyssey. Students will discuss the development of different themes across the text. There will be a quiz over Part 1 of the Odyssey on Thursday, September 2.
Science (Winkworth and Herndon):
Students will expand their knowledge of Energy by focusing on Thermal Energy. They will learn the difference between Heat and Temperature. They will be able to explain how Thermal Energy is transferred Conduction, Convection, and Radiation. They will learn to determine what are good Thermal Energy Conductors or Insulators
Social Studies (MacArthur and Collier):
Last week students looked at the magnificent landscapes, climate, and regions of Georgia as well as explored the exciting cultures of the Indigenous People of Georgia. This upcoming week we will begin to examine and analyze the first European settlements in Georgia!
