INTRODUCTION
My name is Shamiek, and I'm a graduate of East Carolina University With a BFA in fine arts concentrating in animation. I want to work in the industry as a Character Designer/Animator. Specifically, I would prefer working for television and movies rather than games. I am an adept user of the blender animation software with the added experience in using Unity 3D, Autodesk Maya, and the Adobe Creative Cloud.
DEMO REEL
Medieval Scholar Room
In one of my earliest projects, we were tasked to create a 3D modeled environment over the course of a semester. I chose to make a medieval scholars or alchemists room. I wanted to keep the setup minimal but have some hallmarks of what a room at the time portrayed would look like. My research showed me the hallmarks of an Alchemist and scholar: glass vials, books, and, most importantly, a furnace.
I rendered a short animation of a camera moving through the area using Arnold in Maya.
Toothpaste Bot
For this project, the task was to create a robot to accomplish an everyday task. I chose to make a robot that applies toothpaste to a toothbrush every morning. I decided the design should be simple and added tread instead of tires for better grip on slippery bathroom surfaces. I remember everything going well; the movement of the treads was by far the most challenging part.
The Fisherman & The Mermaid
Jonathan Penuel and I made this stop motion animation. We used a laser cutter to cut out pieces to make paper puppets. We used tape to secure them to a paper backdrop and hold poses for animation. Our story followed a Fisherman as he comes across a mermaid and experiences love at first sight.
Knull Capstone
I chose to focus on character design for my Capstone project since I want to do it the most. This character, "Knull," is based on an idea I had for a Role-Playing Game. Knull is a Bodyguard for a pseudo early European country queen and has lived for 200+ years in his metal shell. The queen herself is always a clone of the original queen raised by the current living queen until she dies, and the cycle continues. Knull has guarded every clone. For his design, I chose to keep his clothing casual and his body slender. As an added touch, instead of giving him a typical head, I opted for a skull to accentuate the red light I had planned to use in the eyes.
