Event Outline

2019 and 2020 are the years for countries to raise their climate ambitions building on the outcomes of COP24 and the findings of the IPCC 1.5 report. But what does ambition entail?

This side event will examine the definitions and applications for NDC enhancement at country level discussing definitions and approaches towards mitigation ambition, resilience and adaptation, and support ambition in the light of equity.

The event will bring together civil society, researchers and national governments to discuss the different applications of ambition using national case studies. Key topics that will be discussed/presented are:

What does ambition mean to different stakeholders and in different countries?

National case studies from progressive countries in different areas (mitigation, adaptation and support)

Expectations for the enhancement processes in 2019 and 2020
