Physical Fitness in College
When students transition into college life it is common for them to become less physically active. Many students gain weight and become unhealthy. Students should maintain a good level of physical activity in college so that they stay physically healthy.
College can be a stressful time. Many students suffer from anxiety and sometimes, feelings of depression. Exercising releases chemicals in the brain that elevate mood, so it will help students to feel better mentally and emotionally, as well as physically.
Some students neglect participating in physical activity in order to focus more on academics. Studies have shown that students who exercise more do better academically. Students should be more physically active because it might improve their grades.
Rebuttal: Some people who work out become overly obsessed with body image. Body Dysmorphic Disorder is very common among those who work out a lot and can cause extreme stress related to physical appearance. Students who are maintaining good physical activity should be careful not to allow it to become a controlling factor in their lives.
Physical activity is a good thing. It helps students in many ways. It helps them to be physically healthy, mentally and emotionally healthy and it helps them to do better academically.
