On Oct. 9, head debate coach Julie Laflen was thrown a surprise baby shower during the debaters' weekly work night. The event was organized by senior debater Keaira Duncan and Krista Hale, senior debater Austin Edwards's mom.
Students surprised Laflen with gifts, cake and signed baby clothes.
“I was looking for something that could be [one] last moment with her before she left for maternity leave,” Duncan said.
Laflen stands with her husband, John Laflen and son, John Paul, while students socialize and celebrate.
