say what you see
This photograph caught my eye in kelvingrove art gallery as I was instantly drawn in to the patterns. I decided to take notes of my observations about this image and wrote them down in my notes. I instantly noted the contrast between the different bold patterns from the wallpaper, floor and subjects clothes. Such bold patterns all contrasting against each other making the image itself feel really textured. I then noted the chair the subject is leaning on added lots of depth to this image and how the chair keeps the patterns in their own sections so our eyes can easily distinguish where pattern begins and ends. When looking closer at this picture I noticed the subject is holding a vase with flowers and it looks as if the subject is almost offering them to us, the way our subject in leaning on the chair holding flowers it feels like a very homey environment. The colours in this location are very vibrant giving off a very energetic vibe and I think the photographer was trying to portray this energetic atmosphere but our subject being still seems like almost signifying that our subject is relaxed because he's home but also shows us these beautiful colours and the amazing patterns that can be seen in a lot of African households everyday. From looking at this image i would probably say this has been shot on a digital camera and then put onto a white card backing.
