"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." 2 Timothy 1:7
Home Service Reconnect
Home service reconnect is a time when missionaries return to the United States to visit congregations, LWML groups, church members, and family. In early March my home service began by reconnecting at the LCMS International Center in St. Louis. While there, I had the privilege of sharing about the work going on in Latin America and meeting the nice folks at KFUO Radio.
During my time in St. Louis, I visited with several of my faithful supporters and life long friends. One of the local congregations invited me to present to their Sunday morning Bible class.
Following a few days in St. Louis, I spent time in Taiwan, training with LCMS Communications to sharpen my storytelling abilities and learn some new skills. It was great to meet and collaborate with these ladies from around the world who also work in communications.
We stopped at the airport in Seoul, Korea on the way to and from Taiwan.
After I returned from Taiwan, I spent time visiting Nebraska congregations for a few weeks, and made a day trip to Mission Central to visit with Gary Thies and Rev. Brent Smith, which is always up-lifting. A great group from Omaha ventured out across the flood ravaged areas of Nebraska and Iowa to hear about my work in Latin America. The floods hampered the bus loads of visitors to Mission Central, but it didn't dampen their spirits. What a great day! Familiar smiles and hugs greeted me and welcomed me home.
Washed out bridges and closed roads greeted me on most of my journeys to visit churches in the area. Thankfully people who were tired from the flood clean-up still made time to welcome this missionary.
Of course no trip to Nebraska would be complete without a bit of ice and snow.
I arrived in Seattle last week, just in time for the headline below. It seems that floods are following me across the country. Even so, mission minded supporters have turned out to hear about the mission work and to support and encourage me.
As I continue to travel over the next two and a half weeks or so, my eyes will be toward my return to the Dominican Republic and the mission work I have been called there to do. It has been a joy to tell everyone about how God is using me there, but I am eager to get back to my own home, after two months of living out of a suitcase.
Thank you for all of the prayers, emails, and support, for hosting me, providing meals, a bed, a hug or any other form of care or encouragement. I give thanks for you each day, that you are willing to send me to do this work on your behalf. We are truly family. God bless you all.
Next stops: Colorado, Texas and Louisiana!
Did you know?
- The first class of seminarians will be graduating from Concordia Reformer Seminary in the Dominican Republic in May. Lord willing, nine young men will receive their diplomas. Congratulations!
