The case of New Jersey v. T.L.O. Was a juvenile court case, T.L.O. ( Tracy Lois Odem) argued that her Fourth Amendment rights against unreasonable searches had been violated. the court sided with the school,and T.L.O. took her cause to the new jersey supreme court, which later found that the search was unreasonable

the Supreme Court thought it was against the 4th Amendment "the right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses,papers and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures shall not be violated and no warrants shall issue but upon probable cause supported by oath or affirmation" that searching a public high school was out off the boundaries of the law

the other side of the case is the people agreed with the Supreme Court and was more threatened by the law in formcent in New Jersey for breaking the 4th amendment

In 1985 the Supreme Court by a 6 out of 3 margin rule that New Jersey and the school had. A " resonableness" standard for conducting such searches at school. The Supreme Court said school administrators don't need to have a search warrant or reasonable cause before conducting a search. Because students reduced expectations of privacy while in school.

that the constitution says that the staff at the school border has the right to search the student if they are being volntary agreesve the staff has the right to seach the student if suapesios but getting the police involed was unconstitutionel and so the supreme court had to make a choice

so the supreme court went with the decision to let (TLO) because it was unconstitutional and the way how they won is because the 4th amendment stated that they did not have the right to search the school.
