Campbell Law welcomes Class of 2025
The first-year law students entering the 2022 academic year at Campbell Law School represent a significant milestone. These 213 1L students come from 80 different undergraduate institutions and 23 different states, including California, New York and Florida. It’s also one of the most diverse classes to enter the law school with 16 percent of its members identifying as students of color. “Today is my favorite day of the year,” Dean J. Campbell Law’s BCLC to host ribbon cutting
Low-income families in Raleigh who are facing eviction now have another place to get assistance. The Blanchard Community Law Clinic of Campbell Law School is accepting applications from individuals who are facing qualifying landlord/tenant issues through the newly launched City of Raleigh Housing Justice Project. Eligible residents must live in Raleigh and be at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level. A formal ribbon cutting to announce the project is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at the clinic. Learn more at this link.
Campbell Law Alumni Association to host annual CLE on Oct. 28
Campbell Law’s Alumni Association will host its annual CLE on Friday, Oct. 28. This in-person event offers the opportunity to earn six hours of CLE credit, which has been approved by the N.C. State Bar. The CLE is free for Alumni Association members and $125 for non-members or $75 for a half-day. Register at this link, and learn more here.
Campbell Law expands 3+3 program offerings to Methodist University
Campbell Law is partnering with Methodist University to expand its program offerings under its 3+3 program. With the 3+3 program, undergraduate students can earn both an undergraduate degree, as well as a juris doctor in just six years, saving students time and tuition. While the program was originally exclusive to Campbell University and Meredith College undergrads, 3+3 is now available to undergraduate students attending Methodist University as well as William Peace University and Salem College. Dean J. Rich Leonard publishes book about his journey as a judge
Lawyers Mutual Consulting & Services (LCMS) Press has announced the publication of “From Welcome to Windhoek: A Judge’s Journey,” written by Campbell Law Dean J. Rich Leonard. According to the LCMS press release, this is the remarkable story of how a boy from rural Welcome, North Carolina, grew up to become an innovative judge, global citizen and go-to guy for court-building in emerging African nations. A book signing will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8, at the City of Raleigh Museum. RSVP for the event and learn more about Dean Leonard's new book here.
Sha Hinds-Glick promoted to assistant dean of academic support, bar success
Dean J. Rich Leonard has announced Sha Hinds-Glick has been promoted to Assistant Dean of Academic Support and Bar Success effective Aug. 1, 2022. “Sha Hinds-Glick has been instrumental in making sure our graduates pass the bar and in earning Campbell Law’s most recent ultimate bar passage rate of 98%, one of the highest in the nation,” Leonard said. “The Bar Success Program she began clearly works and this promotion is well-deserved.” Read more here.
Raven Byrne ‘06 promoted to assistant dean of student life, pro bono opportunities
Dean J. Rich Leonard has announced Raven Byrne has been promoted to Assistant Dean of Student Life and Pro Bono Opportunities effective Aug. 1, 2022. “Raven has had a tremendous impact on our students and our pro bono efforts in a very short amount of time,” Dean J. Rich Leonard said. “Her dedication and innovative programming have helped shape our current students into future community leaders. Campbell Law advocates dominate at Academy of the Advocate in Scotland
Campbell Law women beat out the competition at the Academy of the Advocate, which is hosted by Baylor Law School in St. Andrews, Scotland, in August. Mary Catherine Coltrane ’23 won best oral argument for the petitioner in the School of the Appeal, and Miranda Cromley ’23, Sydney Kraft ’24 and Chelsea Lewis ’24 were finalists in the School of the Trial, where Lewis also earned the award for Best Advocate. Campbell Law 4th Annual Bike Ride to benefit student-led Pro Bono Council Projects
Campbell Law will host its Fourth Annual Fundraising Bike Ride on Saturday, Oct. 22. The ride, which is co-sponsored by TREK Bikes, Crabtree Mall, Raleigh Brewing Company, Raleigh Magazine, Attorney at Law Magazine and the Campbell Law Pro Bono Council, will once again offer a 10- to 12-mile family ride, a 40- to 50-mile ride and a virtual ride option. The cost is only $25 for students, faculty, staff and alumni. Volunteers are also needed. Register here.
