JUDO IN THE TIME OF COVID-19

1. The health and welfare of players and their families and communities takes paramount priority

2. Please maximise your personal hygiene measures

3. Judo Queenlsland will not convene judo activities in the immediate future

4. Queensland players and coaches have always found ways to get fitter, faster, stronger, and more skillful in isolated situations. This would be an ideal time to turn adversity into advantage and develop your abilities without group training sessions

Please find attached the Judo Qld Coronavirus Policy - last updated 28th March 2020:

Remember, Judo has been greeting everyone respectfully, and correctly since 1882 (REI), no hand shakes necessary!

Dietician - Rebecca Disher

We were lucky to have Rebecca Disher giving us all the Dietician information we need for a weighted Sport. A huge thank you for spending half an hour with us, and thank you to the families that logged in to zoom to listen to Rebecca.

A few of the topic discussions below:

  • Carbohydrates - how much should you eat, portion size and when to consume.
  • Break down of the food groups - times they can be eaten
  • Water consumption - at least two litres a day if not training, double if training.
  • Eating for injuries - your diet can help recover and repair your body!
  • The most you should go over your fighting weight in non competition times. 3-4 kg max- advised.
  • Any weight that is to hard to maintain, advised to go up to your natural weight.
  • Harsh weigh cutting is very dangerous.
