Committee News

A note from Martha and Ellie

First of all we would like to thank everyone in the school, teachers, parents, carers and children for your support and enthusiasm in helping the FOA committee make all the events this year so fun and so brilliant. We couldn’t do it without you!

After three fabulous years of being co-chairs of the FOA, we feel that it is time to start thinking about letting someone else take over in 2023 and have a chance to have the amazing experience we have had! We would really love to hand over next October to someone with enthusiasm, creativity and a passion for creating events that will stay in our children’s memories forever. After so much hard work, and fun, we don’t want to leave without being able to do a proper handover so- please, do come forward if you have any interest in taking over this awesome and privileged position.

Both Martha and I work full time and it can be challenging fitting event planning into our lives but it has been worth the blood sweat and, not often, tears! We’ve made amazing friends, had inspiring opportunities and above all had great fun creating events for our school community. You do need to be prepared to give some of your free time and you do need to be pretty organised. We have worked tirelessly to put many protocols in place which makes the planning and organising of events simple and clear and we are certain that there are people out there in our school community who could take on our roles and take the FOA in new and different directions. So, if this could be you, or you think your friend/s would be great at this role, please get in touch. We really want our PTA to keep thriving and growing and the only way to do this is to hand over to new ideas in the future. The main roles of co-chair, secretary and treasurer will also be coming available so it’s a chance for a whole new team to work together. Please contact us if you’re interested in any of the roles as it would be great to shadow the roles a bit this year.

Remember it’s all fun and it’s all for our children and their school!

Happy holidays!

Annual General Meeting

We will be holding our AGM in October (date &venue TBC). This is an open meeting which everyone is warmly invited to. It will be an opportunity to learn where the funds are being spent and the decision making process as well as hearing all about the FoA.

2022 Spring/Summer Term Fundraising Update

Spring Disco

Our ever - popular Spring Disco was held in March this year. DJ Mandy was spinning the tunes and it was fantastic to see all the children (and some parents) getting on the dance floor and showing us their best moves. A favourite moment has to be when the Encanto soundtrack came on! This event completely sold out and raised just under £2000!! We know how much you all love a disco so keep your eyes peeled for our Halloween Disco, held in the Autumn term.

Summer Fair

Just some of the brilliant stalls.

A captive audience at the magic show!

Miss Pau being a fantastic sport!

Lots of wonderful memories.

Planning for the summer fair starts in May when the committee decides on a theme, and we start thinking of fun ideas to ensure the event is a success. We then have a meeting open to all, to get down to the finer details. We were thrilled this year to see lots of new faces at our meeting and people who hadn’t run a stall before taking on full responsibility. The success of any PTA relies on the parents and carers stepping up and wanting to be part of the fun - we really couldn’t do it without those who volunteer and show their support.
On the day of the fair, the sun was shining and excitement was running high. Set - up began at 10am and with our army of helpers, we were able to turn the playground into a jubilee- tastic space.
The fair itself was just fantastic. To see all of the children running around, dancing to the music, enjoying the games and the candy floss is a joy to behold. The parents deserve all the fun too! We really hope you all enjoyed the magic show and the live music, such special additions to the fair.
We are delighted to announce that the Jubilee Summer Fair raised just over £4000!!!

A special thanks must go to Nadia Bilal who puts in such an enormous effort to dressing the playground-even cutting fresh flowers for the garland on the main gate.

As a committee we would also like to thank the following businesses for their continued support…

Thank you

The Butchery, The Cake Shop, Perry Hill Pub, Sainsburys, Wearabouts, Trattoria Raffaele, The Dolphin, Toby Carvery, Billings, Ignition Brewery, Fresh & Fruity, The Greyhound, Angie’s Flowers, FK Barbers, EOS Dance School, Smart Chaps, Woody’s Diner, Cutty Sark and Lucy & Sam baby clothes company.
