Major Themes of Biblical Prophet
Economic Wealth
This photo describes economic injustice by showing the incredible inequality and gap between the rich and poor. It displays how the wealthy are a minority and can abuse their money by taking from the impoverished and leaving them to struggle. Many of the prophets addressed these real problems of suffering and inequality. The picture demonstrates how there is an economic injustice among our society and generations before.
Economic injustice: poverty
The picture above is incredibly similarly to the earlier photo displaying economic injustice with focus on the excessive lifestyle in order to demonstrate how these situations are intertwined. As the wealthy take more for themselves to live a lavish lifestyle, the poor are left to be impoverished. As the rich grow richer, the impoverished are forgotten and left behind.
Violence due to warfare
War is monumentally destructive for everyone involved. As the violence of war reaches every citizen and soldier, the photo above displays that. This photo specifically struck me because it shows the sheer violence involved for both sides. The majority of the time, soldiers went into war being normal people, just like the rest of us. When they are forced to commit horrible acts of violence, it changes them. There is a mental and physical violence that many of the prophets had a need to speak about.
Violence: other causes
Violence due to other causes such as, domestic abuse, drugs or alcohol, racism and more, are current issues but have also been occurring for all of human history. Any kind of violence could have a different solution and that is why many of the prophets spoke and taught about this. Many people do not have an education great enough to have learned that violence cannot solve their problems.
EmpTy ritualism, hypocrtical relgious practice, and Religion-wiThout-justice
I chose a photo of a church in black and white in order to focus on empty ritualism. Often, people go into mass, reconciliation, or give up items for lent without true consideration of the Lord. People in our modern society are guilty of simply going through the motions and rituals and not truly connecting with God. This is a necessary issue to recognize because it is so common and there is no truth to empty ritualism.

Martin Luther King, Jr. is a modern day prophet because he spoke out against important issues in our society and made a difference. His "I Had A Dream Speech" demonstrated his passion for equality. Dorothy Day was a social reform activist and journalist. She became famous after her conversion and is a modern day prophet because she advocated for those who needed it the most. She also is seen as an inspiration to the Catholic Church as being an example of how to "journey towards faith... in a secularized environment." She is a modern day prophet for her activities in women's suffrage and helping the impoverished, also notably inspiring religion.
Mohandas k. GAndHi
Gandhi is a modern day prophet for his effort and leadership skills in giving hope. He had famous acts of civil disobedience that were nonviolent, such as the Salt March. He was successful as a modern day prophet because he caught attention for the people who needed it most. With his fame, he was also persecuted, all getting the attention for issues that he saw fit.
