Coker Cobras
The Coker College women's basketball is set to take on Carson-Newman in a home South Atlantic Conference tilt on Saturday (Dec. 15). All Darlington County School District students will receive free entry to both of Saturday's games.
The Cobras are coming off of a hard-fought loss against Mount Olive, in which the Cobras held the nation's second-leading scorer to just 11 points. Leading the Cobras was Haliyah Sumter with 11 points and three assists, and fellow freshman Saquita Joyner reached double figures for the second straight game with 10 points and also adding seven rebounds, three steals, and a pair of asssists. Erin Houser was not far behind with nine points and four rebounds, while Hope Richardson finished just shy of a double double with eight points and eight rebounds. Hayley Kropp notched five points and the trio of Amanda Cherry, Elizabeth Kincaid, and Shay Jackson each recorded three points.
Tomorrow's game is set to tipoff at 2:00 PM at the Harris E. and Louis H. DeLoach Center. Live stats and video will be available at www.cokercobras.com.
Player to Watch
Sumter notched a career high of 11 points last time out for her third game in double figures this season. The freshman guard out of Dreher High School managed to make four of her six shot attempts, including knocking down two of her four shots from downtown. On the season, Sumter is averaging just under five points per game while coming off of the bench.

CARSON-NEWMAN
Carson-Newman heads to Hartsville after a 71-65 victory over King in a non-conference matchup with the Tornado. Their last two South Atlantic Conference contests resulted in losses to both Lenoir-Rhyne and Wingate.
The Eagles, who entered the season ranked third in the country, recently fell out of the WBCA Coaches Poll after dropping three of their last five contests. Prior to the season, the Eagles were picked to finish first in the conference and placed four players on preseason all-conference teams.
Player to Watch
The senior has continued her excellent play after garnering an all-American selection last season, leading the squad with 16.7 points per contest and just over seven rebounds. Earlier this season, Wester was named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association Player of the Week and also a preseason first team all-conference selection.
