On the road to Samuel h boardman state park California to Oregon

FERNDALE & CANNIBAL ISLAND RD
I wish i could be a bird for just a day..
We showed up for sunrise and all we found was fog..

We would have stayed longer, but with a name like Cannibal Island Road, we decided less is better here..

SAMOA
The goodest doggo playing catch with the tide..
Feet in the sand for the first time in a long time..
THE BIRDS..
AVENUE OF THE GIANTS ARRIVAL
Bigfoot is a big thing out here. And apparently he’s the social distance world champion..
Avenue of the Giants was incredible..
At the end of the 7 mile drive through Avenue of the Giants, was not disappointed..
EEL RIVER
The Eel River, where you can find real eels and lamprey..
Just a nice slice of the river to ourselves..
SHRINE DRIVE THRU TREE
After driving our car through, we decided to check it out for ourselves, this is the biggest tree I’ve ever seen..
Lai sitting pretty under the Shrine Memorial Tree..
Just some baby raccoons fishing for food in the Eel River..
Ferndale explored
For a town of maybe 500, they really have a lot of churches. This was one of four that we’d found..
Lai paying for our imaginary tickets to the imaginary film at the abandoned theater..
I almost considered going up, doors open, doesn’t that mean come on in??
I’d REALLY love to own this place..
Side stops on way to Samuel H Boardman SP..
If you need some lumber, the Humboldt area has you covered..
Sometimes the coast is full doom and gloom, and I’m here for it..
Cant get mad with the weather, can’t fight it can’t change it, just embrace it..
SAMUEL H BOARDMAN STATE PARK
The view from the top of Arch Rock..
If you take the path from the viewing deck, you will be going the wrong way, but still find some absolutely beautiful views. Don’t take the left path..
Lai taking in the natural splendor after hiking down to the top of Arch Rock..
What it was all about..

Next time i plan on staying around for longer, this area deserves far more attention..

Port Orford & Battle Rock
Just a big rock and maybe there was a battle here??
back to Ferndale
First time seeing Elk up close. Big beasts they really are..
AVENUE OF THE GIANTS DEPARTURE
The mornings glory..
Just after sunrise on the way home..

Ltcuntdun village was here decades ago, swept away in a flood..

SHELTER COVE
Black Sands Beach..
Ghostly shore line..
It’s been fun north coast, until next time..
