1 - Alex Schaake's Legend Grows
Omaha’s Alex Schaake had the toughest test of his amateur career, and yet again he came out on top, capturing a fourth straight title and winning the 111th Nebraska Amateur Championship after a seven-hole playoff at The Country Club of Lincoln in July. Schaake and Caleb Badura of Aurora, the 2019 Nebraska Match Play Champion, both finished at 280 (-8), and the second longest playoff in Nebraska Amateur history ensued. Schaake joins the great Bob Astleford as the only players to win at least four straight titles, and it's also his 10th NGA title overall, which again ties Fremont's John Sajevic for the most all-time. We sat down with Schaake for an extensive interview, touching on everything from his four straight titles and the grueling playoff, his career ahead, why he doesn't play golf for fun, and more. 3 - NGF Outing Supports Youth on Course
This year's Nebraska Golf Foundation charity outing will take place on Wednesday, August 28th at The Club at Indian Creek, host site of the Korn Ferry Tour's Pinnacle Bank Championship. The outing benefits Youth On Course, a program that gives junior golfers life-changing access to the game of golf. Youth On Course allows kids to join for $10, and then pay $5 or less to play at any YOC facility in Nebraska, or at any out of state facility as well. There are over 30 member facilities in the state of Nebraska alone, and over 3,000 rounds have already been logged this year, with several facilities yet to report their rounds. Youth On Course has nearly 2,000 members from Nebraska this year. The program is supported by the Nebraska Golf Foundation. Find out more about Youth on Course here.
The 2019 NGF charity golf outing is limited to 42 foursomes. Entry fee of $200/player includes lunch, 18-holes of golf with cart, player gift and cocktail buffet.
