The Ethics of Digital Manipulation Has editing gone too far?

People have been manipulating images throughout our history
What happens when photos are manipulated to misrepresent the public such as making a college seem more diverse than it really is.

We are used to photos of celebrities being manipulated for magazines. But what if they take one head shot and place it on a different body. Is that OK? Or darken the skin of a suspect to make him seem more threatening and menace. Did they cross the line?

How can we tell if the images that are being presented to us are real or not?
Do we just assume all images have been manipulated and trust nothing?
Isn't reality just fine. Why do magazines feel compelled to portray a beauty that is physically unattainable?
We want to see real people anyway . People we can relate to.
Photo manipulation can inspire us and show us the imaginable.
Be creative!
Use editing to communicate.
To visually explain something.
For a specific purpose
To educate.
To focus the attention.
Photo manipulation can be used in so many different ways. People respond to visuals. Images, color and design can communicate a message far better than just text alone.
Use your creative skills to wow the world with your imagination, your creativity and your thoughtful design.
