2019 Sophomore EC Scholar Trip to Washington, D.C.

During their sophomore year, EC Scholars travel to Washington, D.C. for their second impact trip during ECU's fall break.

While in DC, Scholars tour the Pentagon, visit museums and Arlington National Cemetery and explore the city with their cohort. This trip offers Scholars the chance to make lasting social change in the local, regional and global community as well as continue to create bonds with their Scholar cohort.

"I think my favorite part of the trip was getting to know the younger class of Scholars. I studied abroad when my class went on the DC trip in 2018, and didn't really get to know the incoming class of freshmen (the current sophomores). Thankfully, all the travel, museums, and random shenanigans that we partook in helped me to get to know each and every one of the other Scholars who went on the trip." -Zachary Barnett, Class of 2021
"It was an experience unlike any other where we not only got to bond more with our fellow Scholars but gain insight on the successes of former ECU alumni and see the potential impact we can offer through our success and accomplishments as EC Scholars." -Luke Fogarty, Class of 2022

Scholars gave back to the community by volunteering at the DC Central Kitchen.

Connecting with ECU alumni is an integral part of Scholar impact trips. This year, Scholars were able to visit the JPMorgan Chase & Co. Institute, thanks to ECU alumnus Tremayne Smith. They also toured the Pentagon with EC Scholar alumnus Chris Thaxton.
