On the UP

During the 2019-2020 season I was asked to assist with Colorado State Men's Basketball's social media presence! I took lead on the Men's Basketball Instagram channel as well as distribution of hype and feature content across Facebook and Twitter. In only 3 months CSU MBB has seen a 35.28% audience increase on Instagram.

Above is an example of an Instagram story I curated to emphasize the excitement surrounding the clash between the Rams' and rival Wyoming in 2020 Border War.

In the Moment

In basketball and in any other sport it is important to recognize different situations on the court in order to capitalize, from a content perspective. Fringe scenarios and comebacks are part of the nature of sports, so being prepared in handling these scenarios can amplify the way a story is told. Below is Isaiah Stevens' buzzer beater game winner & instant crowd reaction vs Nevada in 2020.

By recognizing the possibility of the buzzer beater I was able to capture the raw reaction the crowd and secure one of the most engaged with pieces of content during the season with:

  • 4,489 Engagements on Twitter
  • 48,863 Twitter Video Impressions
  • Top All-Time post in terms of all analytics
Future Focus

With such a young team in 2020 it has proven to be crucial to build the brand of the athletes that fans may not be familiar with, as well as excite fans for the bright future ahead.

Below is a content piece called "Future Fridays" in which we select one of the members of the current team and highlight their achievements to not only show fans what they have accomplished, but to also drive home that there is much more to come!
