Lena Duchannes is one of the main characters in this book. At the beginning of the first book she is introduced as the other main character Ethan Wate's love interest, he had been dreaming overly realistic dreams about her and they hand a strange bond. Lena is a witch, but in these books they are called casters. On the casters 16th birthday they get forced into the dark or light side, though in the first book it turned out that Lena was special and got to pick her side... which will come to confuse her in the later books. Lena did live with her uncle Macon Ravenwood and her dog Boo Radley but in the first book he gave his life to save Ethan, in this book she is living alone in the Ravenwood manor. Lena to Ethan reminds me a lot of how i interact with my friends, because when Ethan said he didn't want to seem uncool around her she replied saying "It's OK. I don't think you're cool now." It made me die laughing, it released a lot of tension in this serious book.

Ethan Wate was the first main character I was introduced to in this series. In the first book he was the sweet, lonely, jock who was suffering from his mothers death and relying somewhat on his best friend Link. He's a sweet southern boy that definitely is not a caster. He isn't normal though, him and Lena have a telepathic bond to the point that they know when the other one is hurt. In the first book when Ethan got killed Lena felt it and Macon ended up saving the day. Even though he was on the basketball team and was popular, he's a nerd at heart. He lives with his father and maid Amma. Ethan is definitely in love with Lena, in the first book when she tried to wipe his memories it only worked for a while and when he came to his senses he said " Memories are erased. One look back at the sign, i remembered. I remembered you. Every moment we spent together. The secrets we kept. Everything came flooding back into my heart." which I found extremely sweet.

Wesley Lincoln who goes by Link is another main character. In my opinion he's the best main character, he's a dork and is underrated, he always helps Ethan out in times of trouble. In the second book Link gets turned into an incubus and gets even cooler, luckily he's still on Ethan and Lena's side thanks to Lena's family. In the first book he dates Lena's evil cousin Riddley who compels him to attack Ethan. Also in the first book his mother gets possessed by Lena's evil mother Sarafine and he notices because of how "un-christian" she was being and how laid back she acted because usually she's so uptight she doesn't want him around Ethan. In this book his skills as a new incubus (basically a vampire) get Ethan and Lena out of some sticky situations, even if he can't control his blood lust. This excerpt from the book accurately describes Link, “Your Seer needs my help to do somethin' she can't. To join the ti-bon-age, mend the seams she ripped herself." Link didn't understand either. "T-bone what? What kinda steak are we talkin' about here?”. Link is the poster child for comic relief in this series and that is why he is my favorite character.

Summary:
