This week, we learned about the rivers in South America and re-visited some of our learning, from Year 4, about rivers. We recapped where a river begins and where it ends and linked it to the learning we have already done about human and physical geographical features.
We chose six South American rivers to focus on, one had to be the Amazon River, and we had to research some key facts about them- Where do they begin? Where do they flow into? Which countries do they pass through? These were some facts we searched for.
Continuing our Geography learning, we found out about lines of longitude and latitude and what they determine.
We used our new found knowledge about the Prime Meridian line of longitude in our Maths Use and Apply session where we calculated time differences using the different time zones across the globe.
In PE, we continued our work in gymnastics and perfected our group routines.
We worked well together to perform them to the rest of the class and we were impressed with the improvements we have made since last week..great teamwork!
