Recreation and Leisure Resource Internet Links for Social Distancing Catherine Ivie: Recreation Therapist-Adaptive Sports at New Mexico VA Health Care System

I know you all are probably looking for things to do now that we are in these new times due to COVID-19. I wanted to let you know we have found resources for you. Don’t forget to stay active while social distancing. Take a walk, get out to your back yard and bird watch, plant a garden, clean a room. Take care of yourself and call your friends to check in on them. We will get through this. These are some great resources, remember to participate within your own abilities.

SpaceX

Upcoming SpaceX Launch

Currently scheduled for May 27, NASA astronauts Douglas Hurley, mission commander (USMC) and Robert Behnken (USAF) will be launching on a test flight aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket in the Crew Dragon capsule. This will be the 1st human spaceflight launch from US soil since the Space Shuttle was retired in 2011. The event will be live streamed online at http://www.nasa.gov/live and covered by major TV networks.

“NASA and SpaceX are targeting 4:32 p.m. EDT Wednesday, May 27, for the launch of the Demo-2 flight, which will be the first time a commercially built and operated American rocket and spacecraft will carry humans to the space station. The launch, as well as other activities leading up to the launch, will air live on NASA Television and the agency’s website. The SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft will launch on a Falcon 9 rocket from historic Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The Crew Dragon is scheduled to dock to the space station at 11:29 a.m. EDT Thursday, May 28.”
