THE GAME CHANGER
The centerpiece of a new era of athletics success at Holy Cross, the Hart Center at the Luth Athletic Complex will serve the championship dreams of Crusader student-athletes for generations to come. The Luth Athletic Complex enhances the experience of all current and future Crusaders, providing them with the tools and facilities they need to maximize their potential and become their best selves.
This transformational facility is the foundation for a revitalized new chapter within Holy Cross’ proud athletics history, propelling the College into the national conversation and creating a renewed sense of spirit and pride on campus and within the community. Through the great generosity of alumni, parents, friends and supporters, the Luth Athletic Complex has given Holy Cross an unprecedented advantage, elevating Crusader Athletics to new heights atop Mount St. James.
THE FUTURE BEGINS TODAY
The Luth Athletic Complex adds more than 143,000 square feet of new space and renovates 138,000 square feet of existing facilities to create 281,000 square feet of new or updated space for practice, competition, training, recovery and wellness for Holy Cross' nearly 700 student-athletes.
And it's all united under one roof.
JOHN '74 AND JOANNE LUTH
The Luth Athletic Complex is named in honor of John ’74 and Joanne Chouinard-Luth, D.M.D. for their transformative $32.5 million gift, the largest in Holy Cross history.
INDOOR PRACTICE FACILITY IN HONOR OF SAINT IGNATIUS OF LOYOLA
The 64,000-square foot Indoor Practice Facility provides a state-of-the-art training space for all 27 programs to utilize throughout the year, allowing teams to continue to progress while being protected from the elements.
CAROL AND PARK B. SMITH '54 SPORTS PERFORMANCE CENTER
Holy Cross has invested in the elite technology GymAware, a leading tool in measuring performance, velocity and power. This technology, which is connected at each of the 17 Olympic lifting stations, allows for better progress monitoring and, with the help of the cloud, provides individualized feedback and analysis to student-athletes and strength & conditioning staff.
The addition of a refueling station provides student-athletes convenient options for restoring much-needed calories. Here, Crusaders have access to fruit, granola, yogurt and other healthy alternatives, including protein and carbohydrate shakes to decrease cortisol levels and kickstart recovery.
COACH GEORGE BLANEY '61 GYMNASIUM
The Blaney Gymnasium allows coaches to schedule practices at the best possible times for their student-athletes. The space features a brand new flooring system and scoreboard, as well as bleacher seating for more than 300. It is also open for use by the Holy Cross community at designated times throughout the day.
SPORTS MEDICINE CENTER
The innovative Sports Medicine Center provides student-athletes with the space to recover quickly and become more resilient to injury using top-of-the-line rehabilitation systems and equipment.
Now boasting more than triple the space of the previous facility, the Sports Medicine Center is equipped with some of the most modern technology and modalities in the industry, including electrical stimulation, ultrasound, BioWave, cold laser, shockwave therapy, Game Ready cold compression units, NormaTech pneumatic compression recovery garments, Graston tools, cupping and an Alter G Anti-Gravity Treadmill (pictured above).
BILL DORAN '77 AUDITORIUM
Among the impressive new additions is a 108-seat auditorium that serves the many needs of the athletics department, from staff meetings to watching film to providing a quiet area for student-athletes to study.
BRIGHT, BOLD LOOK
Included in the scope of the transformational facility project was a refresh to Holy Cross' two main competition venues, the Hart Center Arena (basketball and volleyball) and the Hart Center Rink (ice hockey).
