Season 1

Episode 1 "Pilot"

Even on her Wedding Day, the spirit world will not leave Melinda Gordon at bay. After a presence looms during her first dance with new husband Jim Clancy, Melinda is even more frightened when the same spirit disturbs her at her new home. Knowing she must help the spirit to cross over, into The Light, Melinda tries to find the man’s family.

Episode 2 "The Crossing"

A young boy killed by a train comes to Melinda for help in crossing over. Meanwhile, as Jim’s mother comes to visit the newlyweds, Melinda must keep what she does secret.

Episode 3 "Ghost, Interrupted"

A pair of identical twin sisters are caught between two worlds and Melinda Gordon is the only one that can help them.

Episode 4 "Mended Hearts"

A man killed in a biking accident visits Melinda, worried about what his former fiancée might do to herself now they are apart.

Episode 5 "Lost Boys"

When Melinda and Andrea scour an old property for items to sell at an auction, Melinda learns it used to be an orphanage and encounters the ghosts of three boys who died in a fire there.

Episode 6 "Homecoming"

Melinda gets tangled in the life of a family who has just witnessed the death of their adopted son. Melinda tries to help the boy cross over, but he has a temper.

Episode 7 "Hope and Mercy"

Melinda enters a hospital, a notorious place for spirits to lurk, encountering a woman who wants to know what caused her untimely death during an operation.

Episode 8 "On the Wings of a Dove"

Jim begins to doubt his sanity when an evil spirit haunts him. In order to save Jim, Melinda must help the spirit cross over.

Episode 9 "Voices"

Melinda is called by the spirit of a deceased mother who has been trying to communicate with her child via white noise.

Episode 10 "Ghost Bride"

The ghost of a bride who died not long after writing her marriage vows wreaks havoc on her former husband’s new fiancé.

Episode 11 "Shadow Boxer"

Melinda Gordon is visited by the spirit of a mother who needs help in healing the relationship between her earth-bound son and his father. The son, once a promising boxer, refuses to forgive his father for pushing him too hard during his mother’s final days.

Episode 12 "Undead Comic"

A stand-up comedian commits suicide and finds he is unable to cross over.

Episode 13 "Friendly Neighborhood Ghost"

When Melinda welcomes a new neighbor who has moved in across the street, she gets more than she bargained for.

Episode 14 "Last Execution"

A hanged man is the center piece of a macabre art exhibition Andrea, Jim and Melinda attend, but it is only Melinda who feels the wrath of the man’s spirit. Elsewhere, when Jim saves a woman’s life in Grandview, she claims he injured her in his practice of CPR and wants to sue.

Episode 15 "Melinda's First Ghost"

Melinda is surprised when her first ghost reappears, forcing her to remember how strained her relationship with her mother became when she claimed she could see spirits just like her grandmother could. In order to help the ghost cross over, Melinda must face her mother after many years without contact.

Episode 16 "Dead Man's Ridge"

Andrea discovers the dead brother of one of her former colleagues is visiting Melinda and has warned her that he is in grave danger.

Episode 17 "Demon Child"

When ogling items at a house not far from Grandview, Melinda is alarmed by the spirit of an infuriated young boy who has been terrorizing his mother and baby sister. As Melinda pursues the spirit, Jim looks after the baby and ponders he and Melinda having a child of their own.

Episode 18 "Miss Fortune"

A traveling circus arrives in Grandview, bringing with it the bitter ghost of a magician who claims his jealous brother and former girlfriend, a fortune-teller, killed him.

Episode 19 "Fury"

The ghost of an African-American man returns to Grandview to haunt the prosecutor who failed to convict his white attacker almost thirty years ago. Melinda must help the ghost find justice, before his views are passed on to the next generation.

Episode 20 "The Vanishing"

After tripping in the woods whilst on the hunt for a spirit, Melinda is knocked unconscious. Melinda sustains a head injury and soon realizes she can’t see ghosts anymore. When a young girl whose boyfriend has just died comes to her for help, Melinda struggles to deal with the possibility that she may have lost her abilities forever.

Episode 21 "Free Fall" (Part 1)

Melinda’s sense of dread deepens, as the spirit world remains quiet. Everywhere Melinda goes there’s a chill in the air. Then, two spirits come to her, one a pilot, the other a flight attendant. Both are frosted over. As Melinda puts the pieces together, she realizes that a pilot-less plane is going to crash and it is headed straight for Grandview.

Episode 22 "The One" (Part 2)

In the aftermath of the wreckage, Melinda is overwhelmed as the dead passengers of Trans Eastern Flight 395 realize she can see them. Melinda must do what she has always done, cross the spirits over – into The Light. But, she faces a dark and mysterious top-hatted man who is working against her, convincing these souls that there is no reason to ever leave Grandview, as well as questions from Federal Investigators who want to know how she knew the plane was going to crash. Andrea, panic-stricken about whether her brother was one of the passengers on the flight, sets out to his apartment in the city moments before the plane crashes.

Season 2

Episode 1 "Love Never Dies"

Melinda tries to mourn the loss of her dear friend Andrea, but the mysterious man with the wide brimmed hat will not let her cross over. Alarmed by Andrea’s ghost, Melinda seeks the help of Professor Rick Payne, an expert in the history of the supernatural and the occult. As time runs out, Andrea’s soul starts to slip away and Melinda must get her to cross over, before it is too late.

Episode 2 "Love Still Won't Die"

Melinda is introduced to Grandview real estate agent Delia Banks, after she catches her son Ned stealing some collectible concert tickets from her store. At first Melinda assumes the young boy has just lost his way, but his behavior may be the work of a ghost. Melinda's scheming ex-boyfriend Kyle pays her a visit from beyond the grave.

Episode 3 "Drowned Lives"

Melinda meets a couple who have just moved to Grandview. When they tell her that they think their house is haunted, Melinda befriends them in order to aid the ghost of a six-year-old girl who drowned there the previous summer.

Episode 4 "The Ghost Within"

Melinda purchases a set of ornaments at a flea market, after a spirit draws them towards her. Melinda struggles at first to understand the ghost's message, but when she touches one of the ornaments, she finds herself transported wherever the ornament depicts in a series of visions to help her understand the ghost's life and his reasonsfor remaining earthbound in order for her to help him.

Episode 5 "A Grave Matter"

Melinda visits the cemetery where Andrea was laid to rest and, whilst there, is called on by the ghost of a man who was buried in the wrong grave. When Melinda tries to get the ghost to cross over by helping him reconcile with his hostile wife and daughter, she is reminded of how her father abandoned her and her mother.

Episode 6 "The Woman of His Dreams"

Jim has a ghost who died during surgery come to his dreams. Melinda and Jim find that the ghost, a supermodel, cannot cross-over as she wants to save her little sister from suffering the same destiny.

Episode 7 "A Vicious Cycle"

Melinda and Jim's first camping trip is interrupted as Melinda helps the ghost of a woman who left her husband and young daughter. Before the woman can cross over Melinda must find the woman's daughter and help her to learn the truth about her parents' past in order for her to be safe now.

Episode 8 "The Night We Met"

The ghost of a chef who died in a fire at a Chinese restaurant meets Melinda after the restaurant he died in burns for a second time. He demands that Melinda go out and find the person that really set the fire he was blamed for. Meanwhile, Mel thinks that Jim has forgotten the anniversary of the day they met.

Episode 9 "The Curse of the Ninth"

When Melinda meets a nightclub waiter who has not played his guitar since his friend died, she finds that he is being haunted by two ghosts, and must make the mean one leave him alone so he can return to playing music. Mel runs into ghosts who are staying earthbound against their will- being held by dark spirits. Ned learns about Melinda's gift.

Episode 10 "Giving Up the Ghost"

A high school baseball pitcher Justin finds that he is haunted by the former baseball star pitcher. The ghost is out for revenge on the coach who he blames for his death and Melinda must help him move on so Justin can find his own way.

Episode 11 "Cat's Claw"

While Melinda is at the University's botany lab she deals with some telekinetic events while dealing with a plant from Peru that is bleeding and makes the connection to a recent jungle expedition that Professor Payne was on, and when she realises he brought the ghost back, she considers telling him about her abilities. Jim's medical knowledge helps Mel discover how the ghost died.

Episode 12 "Dead to Rights (aka. Dead Reckoning)"

Melinda has trouble talking to a ghost only to find that it's because he is not dead but is in a coma. While Lisa, his wife is in a legal battle against his parents to take him off of the life support. Meanwhile Delia struggles with teaching Ned about closure while also finding closure for herself (regarding her husband Charlie's death).

Episode 13 "Déjà Boo"

Melinda finds that she must help a ghost who appears to have multiple personality disorder, but when she discovers that they were all real people at various points in time, she must figure out why the ghost can remember them all before she can help him. Melinda briefly thinks she is pregnant. Delia has second thoughts about a dinner date.

Episode 14 "Speed Demon"

Melinda's Jeep breaks down on a deserted road and a young woman who owns an auto shop comes by to help. Melinda meets a ghost who comes to her in the form of a skeleton. Melinda must first decipher the mysterious code that is linked to the drag racing society. Melinda finds that Ned is involved with the society and needs his help. Ned lies to his mom and sneaks out to go to the drag races.

Episode 15 "Mean Ghost" Ian Sander Jeannine Renshaw February 9, 2007 11.16[27]

Melinda gives a speech on her career at Grandview High. While she's at the school she sees a group of cheerleaders who are having some mean and vicious things happening to them just as their cheerleading semi-finals are approaching in just a few days. Melinda discovers why the dead cheerleader can't cross over and someone else has been casting spells on the squad.

Episode 16 "The Cradle Will Rock"

Melinda accompanies Delia to the local jewellry store so she can get her newly refurbished engagement ring. An armed robbery occurs while they are in the jewellers. Later, the ghost of the jewellry salesman visits Melinda and she ends up going through a terrifying ordeal when the ghost's brother in law kidnaps her and demands she tell him where the money is, leading her to suspect the ghost of involvement in the robbery.

Episode 17 "The Walk-In"

A body goes missing from the morgue and Melinda searches for the body. When the ghost visits Melinda she finds she needs help from Professor Payne to figure it out, since the body is walking around like a zombie- the ghost inside intending to attend his high school reunion.

Episode 18 "Children of Ghosts"

Melinda and Jim become foster parents temporarily for a young girl whose mother is missing. The ghost of the mother comes to Melinda and tells her where Mel can find her body. The mother confesses a secret to Melinda and Mel and Jim set out to help the little girl, who Professor Payne seems to think has a poltergeist haunting.

Episode 19 "Delia's First Ghost"

Melinda helps Ned deal with a ghost who had just put a scare into him. Melinda also helps a ghost who appears to her without any clothes on. Delia sees that Melinda is once again talking to herself and Melinda decides it's time to share her gift with Delia, but is drastically unprepared for her sceptical reaction. The ghost of Delia's husband appears to Melinda when he haunts Delia's love interest Tim, but his motives are unclear.

Episode 20 "The Collector" (Part 1)

Melinda meets a man who has the same abilities to see and talk to the dead as she. Melinda later learns that he has a different plan for the dead. A ghost enlists Professor Payne to help Melinda.

Episode 21 "The Prophet" (Part 2)

Five accidents, and four signs which means that something else is going to happen. Melinda becomes concerned for the safety of the people she loves when a ghost prophet shows her visions of the future. The fellow Ghost Whisperer, who Melinda doesn't trust is still in Grandview.

Episode 22 "The Gathering" (Part 3)

Melinda visits the Mayor of Grandview and asks him to cancel or postpone the memorial dedication they are holding for the victims of the plane crash. She speaks to the ghost of a mail person and is looking for a young girl named Kristen, who was rescued from a car with her dead mother's help in the same plane crash, because she is the last puzzle piece with all the children from the various accidents who are all drawing or making things. Later, Melinda and Professor Payne search for the missing children after their Nanny says that they left with a man named Gabriel.

Melinda loses her best frciend and helps her cross over.

Episode 1 "The Underneath"

A girl called Jennifer goes to Melinda's store to sell some belongings that came from her deceased parent's house. Melinda then helps Jennifer with her father who died when she was only a toddler. Someone takes photos of Melinda and they show something suspicious. Melinda finds that she has a hidden connection to Grandview while digging into her families past.

Episode 2 "Don't Try This at Home"

Melinda helps a group of college girls after they begin being attacked and the legend of Bloody Mary roars around the campus, terrifying the girls. Melinda does not believe that the ghost is Bloody Mary, and then has to convince the ghost herself of this fact by helping her to remember how she died.

Episode 3 "Haunted Hero"

Melinda helps an Iraq war veteran deal with the ghosts that he has brought back with him, who are stuck in a time loop. The father of one of the ghosts blames the veteran for his sons death after seeing a leaked military video, and he plans to share it with the media, so Melinda must stop him whilst she uncovers the truth behind the mission.

Episode 4 "No Safe Place"

Melinda's life is in danger when she tries to help the victim of a stalker, who convinces her that the ghost was the stalker, and he then begins stalking Melinda, who then teams up with the ghost to take him down.

Episode 5 "Weight of What Was"

Gabriel returns to Grandview and Melinda learns more about what is lurking below the town when she discovers a series of tunnels and finds that there is a whole forgotten town underneath. She must help the ghost of another fellow ghost whisperer, Tessa (Amy Acker), understand what happened to cause the mass deaths, and that it was not her fault. During this, Melinda discovers that she is one of Tessa's descendants.

Episode 6 "Double Exposure"

Professor Payne is confused when his date, a fellow Rockland professor, refuses to have her picture taken, and it is quickly discovered that she has recently been disappearing from photos. Melinda must discover why the ghost of a girl who drowned is haunting said Professor, but is stumped when she finds the girl still alive. She then has to figure out who the ghost actually is and what his connection to the Professor is.

Episode 7 "Unhappy Medium"

Melinda takes offense when a man who claims to be able to communicate with the dead tells a family that their missing daughter is still alive when she knows the opposite to be true, but she eventually has to work with him to discover the truth behind the ghost's death and in tell the family the truth in order for her to move on. The medium learns some home truths from Melinda about how he does his job.

Episode 8 "Bad Blood"

Melinda becomes suspicious of a new house that one of Delia's friends bought in the countryside.

Episode 9 "All Ghosts Lead to Grandview"

After stumbling across a runaway girl while camping, Melinda soon discovers that the girl has the same gift as she does. However, when Melinda learns that her parents think their daughter has psychological problems, she must help both the girl and her family cope with the gift that she has been given, all whilst teaching the girl how to use her gift and crossing over the ghost that was haunting the girl in the woods.

Episode 10 "Holiday Spirit"

Melinda must help a ghost who truly believes he is Father Christmas to understand why he is haunting a specific family and therefore to find his true identity. In the process she ends up missing her planned Christmas dinner with Jim, Delia, Ned and Payne.

Episode 11 "Slam (a.k.a. Slambook)"

Melinda must go into the complex world of high school dating and gossip, including a website where students can anonymously post nasty things about each other- to find the reason behind hauntings at Ned's school, and to clear the name of the girl who is suspected of causing them, who happens to be the ghost's sister. Melinda is caught on camera talking to the ghost- but it looks like she is talking to herself.

Episode 12 "First Do No Harm"

Melinda has trouble dealing with a ghost who seems to blame Jim for his untimely death, when it seems that he is a man that Jim couldn't save from a recent fire, and in the process, she tells a man it's his brother- and realises her terrible mistake almost too late. However, when she begins her investigation into the ghost’s death, Melinda discovers he is attached to the new doctor in town who he blames for his death, and she must uncover the truth about his death and his illness that led to it in order for him to move on and to discover if the new doctor is really a killer.

Episode 13 "Home But Not Alone"

When Ned's new girlfriend and her family are quite clearly haunted, Melinda at first thinks it is their deceased father, who was possibly abusive. The truth is shocking and has serious ramifications for the three siblings.

Episode 14 "The Grave Sitter"

After her store is repeatedly vandalised with a theme of witchcraft, and the culprit is revealed to be the blogger on 'And shame the devil,' Melinda confronts him to ask why he is trying to expose her, but realises that he is possibly being haunted and is shocked when he reveals his secret to her. After he dies, Melinda must help him learn the truth about his late girlfriend and the shipwreck they were both in a few years ago, and also help him to reconnect with his siblings.

Episode 15 "Horror Show"

Melinda runs into problems, when the victim of a haunting is particularly uncooperative to the investigation into who the ghost is and why he chooses to use scenes from classic horror movies as his hauntings.

Episode 16 "Deadbeat Dads"

When Professor Payne's ex-girlfriend shows up with a ten year old son who is incredibly smart, it is suspected that he could be Payne's son, which angers his dead wife, who is annoyed that he didn't want kids with her, but this gives Melinda an opportunity to finally cross her over. Also in this episode, we see Zack from 'The Other Side' web series get crossed over.

Episode 17 "Stranglehold" (Part 1)

Melinda is given the file number of a murder case for which her father was lead prosecutor in 1979. With the file, Melinda sets out to find whether or not the victim's murder or the trial is linked to her father's disappearance, and discovers that the dead ten year old victim is still hanging around his family, who all seem aware of this, but none more so than his mother, and he is able to temporarily possess people, which causes their spirit to be displaced. Melinda must find out the truth behind the ghost's death (whether or not he was actually murdered) and convince the mother to let him cross over!

Episode 18 "Pater Familias"

Melinda realises that the ghost of Paul Eastman (the convicted murderer in the 1979 case from the previous episode) has been possessing her father and causing his spirit to be displaced. Melinda's mother has to reveal a huge secret regarding Paul Eastmann after Mel finds his bones buried in the house she grew up in, and the secret changes everything because when Tom Gordon finds out she knows, she ends up in mortal danger from him.

Melinda helped out a family that lost someone in Iraq.

Season 4

Episode 1 "Firestarter"

Melinda hears that there has been a fire at the Rockland University Building when Jim is called over there, and hurries over, fearful for Professor Rick Payne, but he is revealed to be alive and well. However, a therapist by the name Eli James dies, and Melinda witnesses his soul being brought back. This 'near-death' experience grants him the ability to hear ghosts. The episode is focused on the ghost of one of Eli's patients,who was possibly more than that, and whether or not she has been starting fires since she was 12. Whilst Melinda is trapped in the archives, she meets a group of seemingly benign ghosts calling themselves the watchers, who warn her that dealing with death may brush off on something she loves.

Episode 2 "Big Chills"

A woman finds her friend dead and strange things start happening around her. She remembers Melinda's abilities from high school (not that she ever believed it before) and calls on her for help. Mel quickly uncovers the story-Grace, her current boyfriend and the dead friend were in a car accident with a motorcyclist 10 years ago and they left him for dead. The guilt ate away at the dead friend but when he tried to go to the police, the other two stopped him. Melinda must tell the motorcyclists family what happened to him in order for the ghost to move on.

Episode 3 "Ghost in the Machine"

Melinda watches Ned playing a computer game, and notices one of the Avatars staring right at her, and he appears in her shop, making her realise she has pulled him out of the game. She realises he is a ghost who appears as his Avatar because that is how he remembers himself, he died whilst playing the game. After realising that this Ghost/Avatar-'Phoenix' is usually hanging around with a teenage girl in the game, Mel, Ned and Eli suspect that he is a Predator, and proceed to try and catch him. Melinda sets up an Avatar and enters the game, and eventually discovers that 'Phoenix' is the girls dad, and is actually trying to protect his daughter from the real Predator, who they then have to work together to catch.

Episode 4 "Save Our Souls"

Melinda and Jim go to a cruise ship that is going to be scrapped soon and meet the newlywed couple staying in the room next to theirs who want to swap because they are having problems with their room and marriage. Mel sees lots of ghosts on the ship and one is very friendly and helpful. Mel realises room M108 is haunted by a ghost who is looking for her fiancé and swaps rooms so she can help her. She figures out the story of how the ghost died and who her fiancé was- he happens to be the owner of the ship, and has to get him to help the ghost cross over.

Episode 5 "Bloodline"

A girl dies while playing tennis with Ned and a friend, and the ghost starts haunting the girl. Mel finds out that the 2 girls used to be friends until their mothers stopped talking and one family moved away. After the discovery that the blood clot that killed Diana is a genetic condition, it is revealed that the girls were swapped at birth. The ghost tries to stop Melinda revealing the truth.

Episode 6 "Imaginary Friends and Enemies"

Mel and Jim visit an old lodge with an old friend, her daughter and her new fiancé, and Melinda quickly realises that the little girl's imaginary friend is actually a ghost. The ghost seems obsessed with the girls mother, and wants to play a game with her, but the game ends up hurting the mother. It is later revealed that the mother used to be friends with the ghost (when he was alive and after), and he is trying to warn her about someone, using a clues game they used to play. Melinda has to convince Tricia to play the game and work out the clues. Jim is shot.

Episode 7 "Threshold"

Jim meets his brother in the in-between state, but decides that he needs to stay behind to be with Mel, since she's not coping without him. She can't see him even though he's there, because her grief is strengthening the veil, but there is another ghost who wants her help, and she mistakes the signs as being from Jim. Eventually he gets through to her, and she tries to convince him to cross over, but he refuses. The other ghost is revealed to be the recently deceased stepdaughter of the man who shot Jim. At an accident, a man dies and goes into the light, and Jim steps into the body, despite Melinda's warning.

Episode 8 "Heart & Soul"

Jim/Sam has no memory of being Jim and very little of being Sam, and Melinda tries to help, wanting the love of her life back. He visits Sam's family but eventually accepts Mel's offer to fix up her garage and live there whilst doing so. Delia doesn't believe Melinda about Jim's spirit stepping into Sam's body.

Episode 9 "Pieces of You"

Jim/Sam is concerned about what might be going on between him and Melinda, thinking they were having an affair, and she assures him she would never cheat on her husband. She starts to tell him about the whole Jim/Sam thing, but his reaction stops her. Delia believes Mel about Jim/Sam after seeing him waiting for Ned at the basketball court, and convinces him to stay. Meanwhile, Mel has to help the ghost of a little girl who is haunting a wishing well.

Episode 10 "Ball & Chain"

Whilst doing work at a house, Jim/Sam hears a car backfire and remembers being shot, which he finds weird, but Mel sees it as a sign of Jim still being in there somewhere. Whilst searching for clues about who he is, he finds an engagement ring Sam was planning on giving his on/off girlfriend, bought a month before his accident. Mel has to unravel the mystery behind a ghost's death, since the ghost is convinced she didn't abandon her family.

Episode 11 "Life on the Line"

Delia is selling a house and she and Mel find it odd that there are still so many family photos and personal effects everywhere. Ned finds the lawnmower and awakens a ghost, who resends an old 911 call made from the house. This leads Melinda to investigate, and she discovers that a 14-year-old boy was killed by the lawnmower there. She must uncover the truth behind the accident and get the family back together for the ghost to move on. Also, Sam remembers medical procedures, indicating that more of Jim's past is coming up. He also tries to find evidence of his fiancé in his personal effects including looking through his sent e-mails.

Episode 12 "This Joint's Haunted" ]

Delia throws a dinner party for a couple of her high school friends and Eli who quickly hears a ghost about the place. Ned housesits for Mel whilst she goes on a road trip with Sam who is trying to find his fiancé in the hope that she can help with regaining his memory. Mel has to help a few ghosts along the way, all without revealing her abilities to Sam. The ghost in Delia's house is trying to stop her from being so hard on Ned because she blames her own parents for her death. Sam's fiancé comes to see him and finally believes him about the amnesia.

Episode 13 "Body of Water"

A girl swims in a lake and is scared away. It is later discovered that there are many dead bodies in the lake and one of them is the girls' father. Mel and Eli have to figure out what happened to the bodies to stop the ghosts from being so angry and helping them move on, and it has something to do with the owner of the funeral home, who now has cancer and won't take his medication. Sam's fiancé Nikki ends up staying with Mel and spending a lot of time with Sam, which worries Delia, who urges Mel to fight for him. The Watchers return and warn Mel again, and she learns that they chose to stay earthbound to help the living. After his past life regression session with Eli, Sam remembers loving Mel, but he thinks he is remembering Nikki.

Episode 14 "Slow Burn"

Delia asks Sam and Mel to help her chaperone Ned's school dance, and Mel sees a ghost trying to stop a girl leaving with an older boy. She quickly realises the ghost is the girls' mother, and must figure out why she doesn't want the two to be together, with very little help from the ghost herself. Delia and Eli help her. Sam asks her on a date and she accepts, but helping the ghost causes her to miss it, and leads Sam to think she's not ready to date after losing her husband.

Episode 15 "Greek Tragedy"

A sorority at Rockland University 'hazes' new members with a brutal ritual, and one girl never returns the next day, which is a first. Mel plans a date with Sam and promises Delia no ghost business, but is unable to help herself when she sees a ghost with a bag over her head, immediately thinking it is the missing girl. Eli works with her to figure out how she died, but the ghost is not who they thought she was at all, she died forty years ago after trying to make amends for the horrible things she did as a sorority leader. Mel told Sam she was volunteering at the firehouse, and when he asks about her there he finds that she never signed in, but he sees on her TV at the Rescue mission. He asks her about it and she lies, making him suspicious.

Episode 16 "Ghost Busted"

Melinda's neighbours hire a ghost hunter right when she was about to tell Sam about her gift, and after seeing his sceptical reaction, she holds off on telling him, despite Delia's urging otherwise. Eli hangs out with the ghost hunter and accidentally reveals his own gift, ending up thinking the ghost hunter is legit, and they incorrectly deduce that the ghost is the house's previous owner. Eli lies to Sam when he asks questions about Mel, and Delia tells him to keep an open mind. Mel works out who the ghost really is and helps him move on, finally tells Sam about her gift, and is crushed when he is sceptical.

Episode 17 "Delusions of Grandview"

Sam wants to see Melinda doing her thing, and follows her to a school where he's been doing work. Mel quickly sees ghosts and works out that they are patients of the mental hospital that the school used to be. One ghost in particular needs her help, she was admitted to the hospital after supposedly drowning her baby. Sam goes into the tunnels with Melinda, and gets freaked out when she has a vision of how the ghost died, which involved electro-shock therapy. Delia and Eli work out that the ghost's doctor was a ghost himself, and she is trying to protect the children in the school from him. Mel finally tells Sam about him being Jim, and he refuses to believe it, instead thinking that Mel needs professional help.

Episode 18 "Leap of Faith"

Sam moved out at Melinda's request, but he forgot something, so tries calling her to ask for it, but she won't answer his calls. Mel is scared by a break-in at her shop, especially when Dr Byrd's ghost shows up again. Eli goes to see the guy who broke in and discovers that he is another step-in (like what Jim did to Sam). Mel deduces that Dr Byrd is behind the step-in's, and works out that he wants another body for himself. Mel realises the other step-in is lost and confused somewhere in the tunnels and goes to find and help him, but the water valve has broken and the place is quickly filling with water. Byrd goes to get Eli and Sam is sceptical of his belief in a ghost he doesn't trust, but follows him down anyway. Since Eli can't swim, Sam goes to rescue Mel, and after his bag gets trapped on something, Jim's life flashes before his eyes.

Episode 19 "Thrilled to Death"

A young woman in Eli's apartment building is being haunted, but claims she doesn't know anyone who has died. Mel and Eli investigate together and figure out who the ghost is, and when they find out that Morgan was lying about knowing him, they wonder what else she's been lying about, and quickly discover that she is ill herself. Meanwhile, Jim misses his job and friends but realises that can't be his life anymore, and he eventually decides he wants to go to Med School. Mel and Eli realise there is much more to Morgan's story, and have to stop the ghost hurting her out of his anger at being lied to.

Episode 20 "Stage Fright"

A TV show is shooting in Grandview and wants to use Melinda's store. Mel, Delia, Jim and Eli go to a Promotional Event, and Mel and Eli quickly pick up that a ghost is haunting the writer of the show and the lead male actor, and is also involving a seemingly random girl in the audience. They discover that they were all in a play together and the ghost was shot on stage when the blank gun malfunctioned. Mel and Eli think he blames the other three for his death and Eli jumps to the conclusion that the ghost is trying to kill someone on the show. They have to unravel the truth behind what happened in the play all those years ago so the ghost can cross over. After an accident shooting a walk-on part, Jim takes Mel to the hospital and they get some great news.

Episode 21 "Cursed"

A little girl comes into the store, searching for a very specific doll, and when the older girl (a cousin) explains that it is for a replica dollhouse of the house the older girl lived in with her family before they died, and that the dolls 'talk' to the little girl, Melinda suspects that the spirits of Emma's family are trapped in the dollhouse. She investigates until she finds out the truth behind their deaths, leading her to think that the little girls mother (and Emma's Aunt) killed the family for their money and wants to hurt Emma. Mel tells Delia she's pregnant, then discovers that she's lost her wedding bands. Jim proposes again.

Episode 22 "Endless Love"

Melinda is at Delia's when she realises that one of the girls in Ned's study group is being haunted. After a sleepwalking incident, Mel and Eli try to work out who the ghost is and what he wants. Eli's friend Zoe (who told him about Voodoo in the previous episode) recognises the hauntings as Vampire Myths, leading Mel to wonder if Serena knew the ghost, and whether she was into Vampires. When she tries to ask her about it, Serena ends up thinking Vampires are real, and is surprised when Mel reveals she was talking about a ghost. The ghost leads Serena to his crypt after she says she wants to see him, and Mel has to race against time to get there and get her out of the sealed crypt before all the oxygen runs out. Also, Mel and Jim plan their second wedding-with Jim as Sam.

Episode 23 "The Book of Changes"

Melinda's mother hires a wedding planner who completely ignores what the couple want. Someone breaks into the University Library and then Zoe's house, but is interrupted by Eli. The thief only stole one book- called 'The Book of Changes' by the Watchers. It has important dates in it, such as previous deaths and Melinda's due date, which is why Carl the Watcher tells Eli not to let Melinda see or touch the book. Because the collection it was hidden in is being bought, the Watchers are trying to protect it. Melinda keeps getting visions of a faceless girl holding the book and saying that Mel's future is in 'her' hands and that Mel can't save 'her'. Mel is scared for her unborn baby, especially when she learns that it will be able to do much more than her (with their gift). Jim and Mel have a quiet wedding on the street where they first met, with only Delia and Eli in attendance, and Jim calls it a renewal of everything they already had and have. Mel is told she has lots of white light around her-spirits protecting her, but if the balance slips, that could change. Eli becomes 'The Book of Changes' new caretaker.

Episode 1 "Birthday Presence"

Melinda undergoes immediate C-Section and then gives birth to a baby boy whom they name Aiden, after Jim's father. Then five years later, Aiden also has the gift of seeing spirits. A woman who died during childbirth is determined to be reunited with her son, whom she thinks jumped into Aiden's body after she gave birth to her son that she thought died. Carl reveals that Aiden is an empath.

Episode 2 "See No Evil"

Ned is with a girl in her college dorm when a haunting occurs,and he calls Melinda. It is soon discovered that the hauntings are connected to a chain email about 'Sally Stitch'. The ghost thinks that her decision not to forward it was what caused the car accident that left her mother in a coma, and is terrorizing people to make sure they forward it, thinking that will save her mother, but her mother is sicker than she knew. A little girl who has terminal cancer and lives in the hospital turns out to be the creator of the email.

Episode 3 "Till Death Do Us Start"

Eli's childhood friend Casey takes his dad to the hospital where he dies, seven years after his wife. It was thought she crossed over but it turns out she didn't. Eli works out that his dad is keeping him and Casey apart, and after Mel has visions, she realises that Casey might be his half sister, since there was an affair going on with a pair of the parents. The truth surprises everybody.

Episode 4 "Do Over"

After some kids break into the hospital morgue, it is revealed to be haunted. When Jim brings home a surgical instrument from the 1950s, Melinda starts seeing visions of a cardiac surgery where the patient died on the table. The doctor feels guilty for making a mistake that killed the patient, and that is what is keeping him earthbound. Mel must try to help the ghost cross over. Meanwhile, Delia is romanced by a secret admirer.

Episode 5 "Cause for Alarm"

Eli treats a patient who is a shut-in and has serious OCD about security. After discovering that his sister died when she was 9 years old , Melinda and Eli think that she is the ghost that's haunting him, but when Mel hears an audio clip of what everyone else thinks is footsteps, she realises it is an unborn baby's heartbeat, meaning that the ghost is/was pregnant. Mel and Eli must work out who the ghost is and stop her son from doing something stupid for revenge. Melinda is worried when Aiden reveals he has 'shiny' friends who are not ghosts, because she can't see them.

Episode 6 "Head Over Heels"

It's Halloween and after a child sneaks the book- 'The legend of Sleepy Hollow' into school, Mel starts having visions of a headless horseman. When Aiden's teacher drops some stuff from her recently deceased father off at the store, Mel gets visions from the costumes and equestrian gear. She eventually figures out that the ghost is the old boyfriend of the teacher, who broke his neck falling from a horse when running from accusations that he was stealing. Melinda has to unravel the truth and mystery behind a costume party years ago to help the ghost cross over. Aiden reveals what the 'shadows' and 'shinies' are- good and bad parts of people, the bad bits left behind (shadows).

Episode 7 "Devil's Bargain"

Dr Morgan from the hospital and the President of the University-Dr Bedford become suspects in the death of a young medical student. After we see that Bedford is terrified of beings who can possess his comatose mother, and Melinda feels an entity that goes inside her and is extremely cold, we learn more about the shadows. Ghosts are terrified of the shadows.

Episode 8 "Dead Listing"

A ghost comes to Melinda, wanting her to find his body, and reveals that he believes his wife killed him. Mel uncovers that they were having a feud, trying to hurt each other and derail their real estate careers. She has to find out what really went on and whether his wife really did kill him. Meanwhile, when Aiden's friends do magic, he feels left out, so Jim gets him a Junior Magic Kit, but after learning that ghosts are helping him do the tricks, Mel and Jim must stop him.

Episode 9 "Lost in the Shadows"

Melinda find the ghost of the girl who created the 'Sally Stitch' email chain in Aiden's closet, and she refuses to cross over. Soon after, Aiden goes missing, and Melinda knows that Julia (the ghost girl) took him. Julia is terrified of something happening to her ghost friends, and she is attacked by the shadows. Aiden saves her and when she talks to her parents, she realises that she didn't kill her friend like she thought she did, and crosses over.

Episode 10 "Excessive Forces"

When Eli gets pulled over by a policeman,he and Mel uncover the suspicious death of a teenage boy labelled as a skateboarding accident. Mel's car gets scrapped and she thinks it was the police officer. She also thinks he killed the boy after a series of visions. She thinks the reason is that the kid was dating the policemans daughter and he was not happy about it. She must uncover the truth behind the kids death in order for him to cross over.

Episode 11 "Dead Air"

After Ned does a telephone prank on his college radio station, saying that a guy is leaving his girlfriend for another girl, a woman comes to the station and angrily states that it happened to her eight years ago and it's not funny. Eventually, Melinda discovers that this woman set up her husband to try and find out if he was cheating, since she had trust issues, it led to their divorce, and he married the woman he named on air. They weren't together at that time. It turns out her fiancé was jealous too and drowned driving to the station to stop them.

Episode 12 "Blessings in Disguise"

Delia realises that a family who moved in recently haven't yet signed the lease, and when Ned recognises the girl's name, he offers to take it over there as an excuse to talk to her. Mel witnesses the boy get attacked by soda bottles at the gas station and has a vision of being kneedeep in mud. She notices the parents odd reaction to their son's accident. Ned is with the daughter during a haunting. After a vision, Mel thinks that the son hurt a girl and the family are protecting him, but the truth couldn't be more different.

Episode 13 "Living Nightmare"

Jim is working extra shifts at the hospital, and a man comes in screaming about being chased by a man with a knife. He is being haunted, and Melinda soon discovers that the ghost is his birth father, who had a fatal insomnia disease he may have passed on to his kids. He talks about seeing demons who get into your head when you're asleep, which is why he won't allow his son to sleep. Mel has to tell him the truth about his disease to prevent him from making his son kill himself.

Episode 14 "Dead to Me"

After Ned brings his 'Anthropology of the Occult' teacher a spirit board and she starts getting haunted, she has to forget everything she thought she knew about the paranormal world in order for Melinda to help her. At first, Mel, Ned and Eli think the ghost might be her late fiancé, who died three years ago, but it turns out to be the daughter of the guy who drove the car that killed Avery's fiancé, probably blaming her for her death because she had sent the text her fiancé was answering at the time of the accident. Melinda gets a message on the spirit board she took away from Ned-that someone they know will die soon.

Episode 15 "Implosion"

Melinda gets a military collection in the store, and when she realizes there is a ghost attached to one of the items, she follows the guy who sold it to her, to see where he gets it from. Turns out he was robbing an old army base, and when a ghost tells Mel and Eli there is unexploded ordnance on the site, they wonder if that's what killed the ghost (a little boy). The boy is revealed to have gone missing right around when the hauntings started, and he reveals to Mel and Eli that he saw Bedford take a live bomb from the base. Bedford threatens to kill Delia if he doesn't get the Book of Changes, so Ned and Eli forget about taking turns to hide the book, and come up with a plan to save Delia. The shadows are angry when the Book is blank.

Episode 16 "Old Sins Cast Long Shadows"

A woman comes to Mel's shop to sell antiques from a house she's moving from after the death of her daughter (from an illness). Melinda very quickly discovers that the house is haunted by violent spirits after Ned gets hurt there-which doesn't go down well with Delia- and she realizes that the ghost of the little girl (Cassidy) is being trapped there. Melinda has to work out whether the ghosts are murderers or murder victims, and figure out how the previous owner of the house-'Madame Greta' is involved. Delia wants Ned to stop getting involved with ghosts because she feels it is getting too dangerous, she is shaken up from the explosion at her office.

Episode 17 "On Thin Ice"

A graphic novelist comes to Mel's store looking for Delia. He wants a new studio. After he is nearly impaled by icicles outside the store, Mel and Eli see a picture he posted to his blog a whole day before, exactly like that scene. After another scene comes true, Melinda realizes that the ghost is possessing him and creating automatic drawings, warning him about what will happen to him next. Eventually, Mel figures out who the ghost is and what he wants, and has to talk to his dad, stepmother and stepbrother to help him cross over. Aiden mentions something about wanting a brother.

Episode 18 "Dead Eye"

A clown ghost comes to Mel (to her dismay, as she doesn't like clowns). He seems to think that he's not really a clown, and it proves to be true, as Melinda uncovers that he was actually a Private Investigator. When she sees him fixated on a redhead, she does some digging, and finds that the woman won the lottery and is a multi-millionaire, so she can't be the gold digger her boyfriend's daughter accused her of being. The PI was investigating her boyfriend to see if he was right for her, and her ex sold his car to hire the PI to look for her after she left, thinking she might be pregnant. Bedford's ghost comes to Melinda, saying he's still paying after giving up his own life as well as his mother's, and warns her to trust no-one and nothing.

Episode 19 "Lethal Combination"

Jim hires a nanny so he and Mel can have a date night. After Aiden has an accident in her care, they hear about a string of similar incidents involving her, and warn their neighbor, who raves about her. Melinda goes to talk to one of her references, a man whose wife died of an 'illness', which turns out to have been alcoholism. The ghost of the wife comes to Mel, seeming to think she was killed by her husband and the nanny, who wanted her out of the way. Melinda has to uncover the truth behind the ghost's death before she kills her husband and the nanny.

Episode 20 "Blood Money"

Some college kids find an abandoned barn and feel a scary presence there. Only two get away, and they report their friend missing the next day. After a series of visions, Melinda investigates and leads the police to the body of a boy buried outside the barn, who turns out to have been kidnapped eleven years ago. He turns out to be the ghost, and he tries to help Mel when the detective she's working with turns out to be his killer, and is after ransom money he knows is buried somewhere in the barn. Carl the Watcher returns, stating that the shadows are greedy and gluttons for energy, and saying that the flip side of greed is fear.

Episode 21 "Dead Ringer"

A girl comes into the shop to sell her recently deceased father's things, and when she talks about moving in with her boyfriend and a haunting happens, Melinda thinks her father is haunting her, not liking her boyfriend. Mel is having trouble telling her visions from reality, which is a huge problem. Melinda sees the ghost of the girls boyfriend, but when she tells her he's dead, he walks into the store alive and well. Mel eventually deduces that he had a twin brother who died when they were eight, but thinks the ghost grew up with his brother. Carl tells Mel that because Aiden can see the shadows, they will target him because that weakens them, and that if she tells him ghosts aren't real, he may stop seeing them, which would be the best thing for him. Jim is all for the idea, but Melinda doesn't want to deny his gift.

Episode 22 "The Children's Parade"

Melinda and Jim told Aiden ghosts aren't real, and neither are the shadows and shinies, but he didn't stop seeing them. Melinda can no longer tell the dead from the living. Eli has trouble talking because of a toothache, but when Carl asks him why Melinda is ignoring him, Eli manages to communicate that he told her Aiden shouldn't see ghosts, and he reveals that he must have been possessed by the shadows when he said that, because he would never normally say such a thing, since it is the worst time for Aiden not to use his gift. At the hospital, the ghost of a thirteen-year-old boy is leading the child ghosts of polio victims on marches to show that they're not afraid of the shadows. Melinda gets completely taken over by the shadows, and when Carl sees Aiden talking to someone he can't see, Aiden reveals that it's a shiny- or the crossed over ghost of a child. After the Book of Changes tells Carl and Eli how to stop the shadows, Aiden must convince the shinies to help. Mel and Aiden cross over the Polio Victims and the boy, and Mel and Jim tell Aiden they were wrong to try and get him to deny his gift.

Melinda has an emergency C-section and names their son Aiden.
