Digital Photography 2 Dyvne' Lee

Hello, my name is Dyvne' Lee. Photography has been something that I found a small love for during covid, especially self portraits. I chose to take Digital photography 2 in hopes of exploring other forms of it. There were a few big things that I've learned this year that will travel with me forever. One being going into automatic to see what settings the camera would use, and fixing it to your liking in manual mode. I loved being able to explore the polaroid camera that was passed down to me by my mom. I honestly can't wait to use it all throughout college. I loved having the freedom to just create and do things the way that my creative brain wanted to. As always, it was difficult getting things in on time. Overall, this was a great year for me in photography.

Cupcake Wars. Rod wave is my favorite artist, and a great song by him is called “What’s Love??” I felt like it was only right to contribute something to him. Having the cupcakes fallen over shows how heartbroken he is. I love his music so much. I just loved that when I was setting this up, I sang this entire song in my head. I learned that valentine’s day doesn’t always have to represented as love and happiness.
Flowers. This is my absolute favorite picture. I just LOVE how vibrant the flower is with the red water background. Pushing the flower up against the glass truly showed the details of the flower petals. I learned that you can break the rules a little and still get a wonderful picture. Just experimenting can often times give you good results.
Flowers. I love how editing can make something that was once dull extremely bright. I love the focus on the center on the flower that hasn’t bloomed yet. When shooting this, I couldn’t figure out which color paint to use, so I started messing around the angles and found that the birds eye angle was the best one for this shot.
Flowers. I love how the paint sits on the flower, while the entire water is blue around it. When editing I made the yellow in the middle brighter so that it pops. I learned that failed attempts can become a mater piece.
“PTSD’s” & Ghosts. The editing process of this photo was extremely fun and easy. When taking the pictures, the only difficulty was keeping the camera in the same spot. I learned that photoshop is really good with layering pictures without actually layering them.
Freezing Time. I love how we can see the water droplets falling in frozen time. It’s looks like a lemonade commercial. The reflection of the mirror showing the back of the lemon and lime is really cool. I learned that you could be more unique with what you are given to take pictures of. I broke open the fruits to give off a different effect.
Paper, I love that I look paper and made it more then what it was. I allowed my creative past, to work with this assignment. I wanted to give off the vibe that I was watering flowers. While shooting, I wanted to show different colors, just like how flowers can be, so I put multiple color lights from all angles to get off that affect. I learned that something so simple can be turned into something so cool.
Grid Project. My main goal for this project was to capture black and brown people doing activities that we aren't usually seen doing. We aren't known to be the type of people to want to go canoeing, laying in hammocks or even playing archery. I asked a lot of them what "black excellence" meant to them and I thought that it could tie everything together.
Free project. I've always thought that graphic design was cool, but I ad never gotten the chance to take it. I took this time to do some experimentation with Canva and photoshop to create my own from scratch. I thought it was so cool that such little details can make a picture be so much more then it was before, hence the glitter and balloons. I loved adding and removing things to make it exactly how I wanted.
Personal project. My goal for this project was to capture kinky and curly hair and some of the many hairstyles that we can do. A lot of the pictures were taken on the porlaroid camera, but these were digital and placed into a PSTD. I thought it was cool how I took a modern day picture and made it look vintage.
Toys project. This original picture was blue and basic but with some editing I was able to get it to have a pink tint. I love the eay that the toy was placed on the controller, It gives me the vibe that the toy came out of the game to play its own game.
Free shoot. This picture is now my lock screen lol. I love the angle, the lighting the editing, just everything about it. I think the hardest part was getting the perfect shot of the jellyfish because they were constatly moving. Ive learned that it's important to just be patient when taking pictures like this.
Free shoot. This photo of the turtle looks extremely demonic and scary. However, he seemed to be one of the nicest creatures ever. I love how edited and just the angle of a picture can change the entire story behind it.
Free shoot. I loved that I was able to make one alligator in focus and the other one not with messing around with the focus lense. I love how in sharp focus the eyes are and being able to see the true detail and color within them.
Free shoot. I loved edited this picture because I was able to darken the background and make the shark the main focus of the picture. This picture looks like it was taken deep under the sea, but in reality it’s in a tank.
Graphic Design. Getting the angle for this shot at to of been one of the hardest things to do. We did a complete layout of his unorganized workspace to show the true life of a graphic designer.
Cut outs. I loved being able to make colors out of the things I was wearing. I’ve learned that you can really make something from nothing with just a little stretching of a picture. I enjoyed taking my time with making sure the cut out was perfect.
White Balance. I had never knew this was a thing until this assignment. I love the fact that it’s pretty much a filter without being a filter. Being able to see and understand how each setting works and looks in different lightings was really cool. I learned that I could make different things look tinted in any way I want without editing them.
Freeze Time. This took some trial and error to get a shot I was satisfied with, but once I got my settings right, I was able to capture him in action. I loved getting the reaction of our tour guide to how intensely they were playing the game.
