Coker Cobras
The Coker College men's lacrosse team will be back in action at home on Sunday (Mar. 24) as they host the University of Montevallo for a non-conference game starting at 1:00 PM.
The Cobras (4-5, 2-2) are coming off of a tough loss in their last game on Wednesday (Mar. 20) as they fell at home to Newberry 17-12. Coker jumped out to an 8-4 lead midway in the second quarter before the Wolves rallied back to tie it up at the half. Newberry would outscore the Cobras 8-3 over the final 30 minutes to pick up the win.
Matt Murphy and Joe Venazio led the Coker attack as they both scored four goals in the game, while Ethan Irizarry added a pair of goals himself. Charles Stafford and Nicholas Maddox were the other Cobras that managed to find the back of the net and Maddox would also add an assist to his statline. Jonah Robertson and Lucas Hediger led the squad in assists with two each and Justin Hopkins and Jason McNeany each added an assist.
Player to Watch
Venazio has been a force to be reckoned with in his second campaign at Coker, leading the squad in goals (27), assists (15), and points (42). Venazio is currently tied for fifth in the South Atlantic Conference in goals and third in both assists and points.
