The character I chose for my literature based carving project was Donatello from the comic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The reason I chose Donatello was because he interested me more than anyone else that uses a bo staff. In the comic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, written by Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman , it states " His most effective weapon is his bo staff." This backs up the evidence that Donatello carries around a bo staff for his protection. Another statement that backs up the fact that Donatello carries around a bo staff is "He is the one that killed the shredder by knocking him and his grenade off the roof." It does not say directly that Donatello had a bo staff, but we can infer that he knocked the shredder and his grenade off the roof with it.

There are really no symbols or reasons why I chose to imitate Donatello's bo staff from TMNT , which is also known as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Donatello is the smartest out of the four ninja turtles. In the movie, and also in the book, Donatello wears a purple bandanna. One of the reasons I chose Donatello is because he has intelligence and that has a big role in the real world.

To conclude , I am doing the carving of Donatello's bo staff from TMNT. The reason I am is because he is the smartest out of the four characters. The creators of TMNT are Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. I am using Oak as my type of stick . At the top of my bo staff will be his face and his shell, and in the middle will be the rope.

On day 1 I started to carve the bark off of my stick .
