Smartphone Free Pledge
Thank you to those who have signed our Smartphone Free Pledge. The impact of giving children access to the internet and social media at a young age is very topical at the moment with the release of the drama series, "Adolesence" on Netflix. We are currently reviewing our anti-bullying policy in line with the government's Bí Cineálta Policy and it is our overwhelming experience that whereby smartphone usage is delayed, this has a positive impact on students wellbeing, learning and particiption.
Thank you to our Parent's Association who are leading this super initiative, in particular Hilary Devine for her dedication and commitment to this worthy cause. To date, just under 20% of parents have signed the pledge- 74/385. We hope to increase this over the next week.
We encourage all parents to share this information with other parents in the school and to consider our Smartphone Free Pledge by clicking the button below and signing.
Sensory Circuit
Our amazing caretaker, Noel has repurposed our middle cloakroom as a senory circuit to cater to the needs of our students who require regulation throughout the day. A huge thank you to our incredible SNAs who worked together to gather data on the sensory needs of our students and to our PA for making this possible through fundraising.
Anti-Bullying Survey
We invite parents to fill in our Parents Anti-bullying Survey for the updating of our Anti-bullying Policy below:
School Events
Kilmainham Gaol
Last week, 6th class had the fantastic opportunity to visit Kilmainham Gaol as part of their history lessons on the 1916 Rising. The trip brought history to life as students explored one of Ireland’s most significant landmarks. During the tour, they visited the old prison cells where leaders like Patrick Pearse, James Connolly, and Joseph Plunkett were held. Standing in the Stonebreakers' Yard, where some of the Rising leaders were executed, was a particularly powerful moment, helping students truly understand the sacrifices made for Irish independence.
The class also explored the impressive Victorian Wing, where some of their favourite films (Paddington) were filmed. It had a haunting atmosphere with its high ceilings and spiral staircases. The tour guides shared fascinating stories about the prisoners and the role Kilmainham Gaol played in shaping Irish history. It was a memorable day out, giving students a deeper appreciation for the events of 1916 and Ireland’s fight for freedom. A huge thank you to everyone who helped organise the trip!
Seachtain na Gaeilge
Bhain muid an-taitneamh as Seachtain na Gaeilge i Scoil Naomh Bríd an tseachtain seo caite! Bhí neart gníomhaíochtaí spraíúla ar siúl, mar shampla rince Gaelach, Céilí Mór, ceol traidisiúnta, tráth na gceist agus fiú Bingo Loco! Bhíomar chomh bródúil nuair a mháirseáil muid timpeall na scoile inár n-éadaí glasa agus amhráin Ghaeilge á gcanadh againn! Bhí comórtas fuinneoige ar siúl sa scoil, mhaisigh gach rang a bhfuinneoga le focail agus siombailí Gaeilge. Comhghairdeas le rang a sé, Múinteoir McGrane, buaiteoirí an chomórtais!
Science Blast
Students from 3rd to 6th class proudly represented St. Brigid’s at this year’s Science Blast, returning home with an incredible six trophies! It was a fantastic achievement and a day filled with learning, teamwork, and excitement. Throughout the event, the girls showcased their brilliant projects, presenting their research and experiments to other schools and a panel of expert judges. They spoke confidently about their findings, answered questions, and demonstrated their hard work and creativity. The judges were highly impressed, providing fantastic feedback and praising the students for their dedication, problem-solving skills, and innovative thinking. The girls were delighted with the recognition and left feeling even more motivated for next year’s competition!
Exciting Experiences!
Choir Competitions
The choir have been working hard in preparation for their upcoming competitions. They will compete in this year's Primary 2-part Competition in Feis Ceoil next Monday 31st March. They also hope to compete in the Navan Choral Festival and the Wexford Aims Choral Festival in May. We wish them the very best of luck!
Rowing
Next week, students from 4th to 6th class will have the exciting opportunity to take part in a rowing workshop with Rowing Ireland! During the session, the students will be introduced to the basics of rowing using indoor rowing machines. They’ll learn about proper technique, coordination, and endurance, as well as the importance of teamwork and fitness in the sport. Experienced coaches from Rowing Ireland will guide them through fun and engaging activities, helping them develop new skills while staying active. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to try out a new sport. A big thanks to Dublin City Council for organising.
