Someone is always watching (Mark 15:39)

Brother Jarodd Webb

“And when the centurion, which stood over against him saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.” Have you ever gone through a difficult season in life and noticed that the very people who expected you to fail were present to witness your struggle? It seemed as though your struggle had become a public spectacle. Regardless of your circumstances, remember, someone is always watching you—even in your suffering. In this setting Jesus is on the cross, darkness has covered the land, and the veil of the temple is rent from top to bottom. Jesus has endured the greatest suffering ever known to humanity, and He gave up the ghost. His redemptive mission was complete. However, the irony of it all is that a Centurion, a Roman soldier, a Gentile has a front row seat to witness it all. The centurion’s responsibility was to ensure that the one being crucified was truly dead. However, Jesus suffered in such a manner that the centurion reached the conclusion that “Truly this man was the Son of God”. What conclusion do others reach when they witness our suffering? Do we suffer in a way that brings glory to God even in our weakest moments? Remember, someone is always watching—even in our suffering moments.

Prayer

Lord help me to endure hardness as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. When I encounter suffering, help me to suffer in a way that brings others closer to you. Help me to remember that someone is always watching. In Jesus’s name. Amen.

Proper Preparation

Every Vote Counts!

North Carolina Senate leader Republican Phil Berger, who touted President Donald Trump’s endorsement throughout his campaign, conceded defeat Tuesday in his primary election in a race he lost by just 23 votes. Berger, a powerful figure in state politics, and Rockingham County Sheriff Sam Page were separated by just two votes when unofficial results first came in for the Greensboro-area seat on election night. A machine recount and a separate hand recount of ballots in some counties affirmed the 23-vote loss for the incumbent. (politico.com) 3.24.2026 Aaron Pellise.
