Youth Group Ames,IA

Before youth group, I was very introverted and kept to myself. I wasn’t bold enough to make friends or get involved anywhere, I never found my place. Luckily, my mother encouraged me to get active in my community and introduced me to the youth group. When I first started going on early Sunday mornings it felt like a drag, I was tired and shy, not wanting the attention of a large group of bubbly teens. Strangely, it grew on me as I started feeling comfortable and getting involved in the activities and discussions. I made friends with all of the members at it created a safe space for me to go to. Not only was the youth group helping my personal life but also made a difference in others with all of the volunteering and fundraising. I had finally found my place.

Coffee always started each morning. The consistency is something I enjoyed and what motivated me to go every week.

Sleeping under the stars to help support homeless youth. We get to meet and impact the lives of other youth beyond our group.

Making lifelong friendships is what makes youth groups a truly special community. Finding connections with people you would have never expected to be friends with.

I always appreciate how we are always traveling in groups. The group offers a great sense of camaraderie for me as we build a strong support system.

Volunteering at Food at First and raising money for people to have meals was a huge part of our youth group. We would help make, serve, and cleanup after each supper.

Crafts were a huge part of how our group bonded and had fun. Each gathering would have some form of a craft.
