KC Colour Run

This week saw our very first Kent College Colour Run – and what a vibrant success it was! Students from Reception to Sixth Form embraced the fun as they ran, walked and danced their way through clouds of colourful powder. With laughter, energy and bright smiles all around, it was a joyful celebration of community and school spirit – all while raising money for our school charities.

French Trip to Boulogne

On Friday 27th June, students from Years 8, 9, and 10 enjoyed a fantastic day out in Boulogne with the French Department. After an exciting ferry crossing, the group explored the charming old town, where they had time to soak in the atmosphere and enjoy lunch.

In the afternoon, they visited the much-anticipated Nausicaá Sea Life Centre, home to an incredible array of marine creatures, from sharks and seals, to alligators and more. A wonderful opportunity to experience French culture and marine biodiversity in one unforgettable trip!

Young Fashion Designer UK

This past weekend, Kent College proudly hosted the National Young Fashion Designer UK Competition, celebrating the creativity and innovation of the next generation of fashion talent. Young designers from across the country showcased original collections inspired by culture, sustainability, and bold new ideas—each piece telling a unique story and reflecting a vibrant future for the industry.

Congratulations to all participants for their hard work, passion, and outstanding designs. Special recognition goes to our winners, who truly impressed the judges with their originality, creativity and sustainable focus:

  • Emily (Year 8) was highly commended in her category.
  • Sophia (Year 10) was highly commended in her category.
  • Ashley (Lower Sixth) placed 3rd in her category.

This competition continues to be a platform for young creatives to shine and a reminder that the future of fashion is in good hands.

Trip to Wimbledon

Our senior tennis team enjoyed a truly special day at Wimbledon yesterday. The experience began with a rare treat: watching Carlos Alcaraz warming up up-close, an inspiring moment for our students. From there, they headed into Court 1, where they were treated to several exciting matches and world-class tennis. Later in the afternoon, the team gathered on Henman Hill to watch Emma Raducanu in action, soaking up the sunshine and atmosphere. They were also thrilled by a surprise meeting with former British No.1 Greg Rusedski, who kindly stopped for a chat and photos a fantastic moment that brought the excitement of professional tennis to life.

Upper Sixth Annual Classics Dinner

On Thursday 3rd July, the Classics Department had the delight of hosting the annual Classics Dinner. This is a chance to give current Upper Sixth classicists a cheery send off and to catch up with former students. This year we had guests in attendance who had left between 2014 and 2025. It was wonderful to hear everyone’s news.

It was lovely to meet everyone from past years. Verity (Upper Sixth).
It keeps the connection to KC alive. Cat (Upper Sixth in 2014, Cambridge graduate in Classics in 2017, current Public Health Registrar).
It’s great to revisit school memories a decade on. Eleanor, (Upper Sixth in 2014, UCL graduate in Classics in 2017, Oxford Masters in Cuneiform Studies, 2019, current Editor).

Boarders' Activities

It’s been a week full of fun and creativity for our boarders! With the heat on Monday evening, a lively water fight was the perfect way to cool off and kick-start the week. Throughout the week, the kitchen was filled with delicious smells as students made rocky roads, flapjacks, and Rice Krispie cakes, with plenty of teamwork and taste-testing involved!

Last weekend, they embraced their inner mixologists with a colourful mocktail-making session. Using a “Spin the Wheel” game to choose their base — guava, lychee, pineapple or mango — the results were as vibrant as they were tasty. A brilliant week of bonding, baking, and beating the heat!

ISSP Trip to Drusilla’s Zoo

Students from our ISSP schools (The Skinners' School, Skinners Kent Academy, The Weald of Kent, Oakley School and Mascalls) recently enjoyed a fantastic educational trip to Drusilla's. Our students gained fascinating behind-the-scenes insight into how the zoo helps protect endangered species and is actively involved in breeding programmes for animals on the brink of extinction.

As part of the day, students took part in an interactive workshop and had the rare chance to examine a collection of confiscated animal artefacts seized by UK border control - a powerful reminder of the impact of the illegal wildlife trade! It was a fun-filled day that gave our students the chance to collaborate with peers from our partnership schools while deepening their understanding of global conservation issues.

Sporting Achievements

Elowen (Year 8) delivered an outstanding performance across two sports in one day. In the morning, she re-joined her roller hockey team, the London Knightz, and scored five goals to help secure back-to-back wins — earning them the National League title. She then travelled to Chelmsford Ice Arena to compete in an ice hockey tournament, where she impressed again, scoring a brilliant match-winning goal against elite opposition. All this after a tough year managing knee injuries — an inspiring achievement from a truly dedicated athlete!

Also a huge congratulations to Amelia (Year 9) and her gymnastics trio from Tigers Gymnastics for their incredible performance at the International Acro Cup last weekend! Competing in the Aspire Women’s Group division, the team earned Gold in the Aspire Showdown Combined with a score of 26.650, and followed up with Silver in the Aspire Combined with a total score of 52.100 — just 0.05 away from another gold. So close, and so well deserved!

Join the KCPA!

Please find attached a flyer from the Kent College Parents’ Association (KCPA), which works closely with parents, teachers, and staff in the Senior School to support events and initiatives that benefit our students.

As the current leadership team will be stepping down this year, they are seeking a new team, including a Chair, Co-Chairs, and Treasurer, to continue this important connection between parents and the school. They also welcome general volunteers to assist with events and activities.

Please note: this doesn't have to be a big commitment; any help or time you can give, would be much appreciated.
