This Week In Band

It's another busy week (as usual) in the Allen Band & Guard! The Allen Eagles defeated Midland Legacy 52-35 in Abilene this weekend earning a game vs. North Crowley in a UIL 6A Division 1 State Regional Final playoff game. The game will be on Saturday, December 2nd at Dragon Stadium in Southlake. On Sunday, we will march in the annual Allen Christmas parade. Please read this week's announcements carefully!

Playoff performance conflicts: Please remember that all students were required to submit the Advanced Conflict Form for all performances (including potential playoff games) back in August. Students are still expected and required to be at all performances through playoff season. We order food and buses based on who we know is going to games. Students with zero communication on missing the Thanksgiving game in Abilene will not receive excused absences. Money was spent on empty charter bus seats, lunch, and dinner. Based on the number of students with zero communication regarding the Abilene game, we could have ordered one less charter bus and about 140 less meals (lunch and dinner). Please see the band handbook regarding communication of illnesses to receive an excused absence; you will need to provide documentation from a medical professional. If you did not submit an absence regarding this week in August on the Advanced Conflict Form or communicate with your director by MONDAY, NOV 27 about missing this week's playoff game or Christmas Parade, you will not be excused. All illnesses reported Friday-Sunday will require medical documentation to be considered excused.

• PLAYOFF GAME 4 - Allen vs. North Crowley (Sat, Dec 2) at Dragon Stadium (Southlake, TX): We will wear our traditional uniforms (blue uniform shirt). Santa Hats Required (Traditional red hat with white ball on top). Students should clean out shakos today. Call time & Rehearsal is 10:15am. We'll provide lunch and snacks. • Christmas Parade (Sun, Dec 3): We will wear our traditional uniforms (blue uniform shirt) with required Santa Hats (Traditional red hat with white ball on top). Call time at AHS is 12:45pm. Music is Santa Claus is Comin' to Town. CLICK HERE for Itinerary. CLICK HERE for music.
• Tuxedo Shirt/Accessories Purchase: If your concert uniform is a tuxedo, students/parents are required to purchase your own white tux shirt (with wing collar), bow tie, and cummerbund. You can get all of the above from Amazon or through your preferred formalwear vendor/store. • THERE IS NO EXCUSED ABSENCE REQUEST FORM IN 2023-24. The only way a student can receive an excused absence for a rehearsal or performance is through e-mail communication with the student’s band director from a parent. In addition, advanced conflict forms were due on Aug. 18, 2023 to consider performance conflicts. See Band Handbook for more details.

2024-2025 Wind Auditions

Auditions for placement in AHS band classes for the 2024-2025 school year will be December 12-15 during band classes at AHS/LFC. Please note that class placement is for the entire school year. This will be the only placement audition, and students will not change band classes in the middle of the school year. Please see links below - start practicing now.
