FROM THE Principal’s Desk

Dear Bluejay Family,

Testing week can be a time of both excitement and nervousness for our students. It is an opportunity for them to showcase all the hard work they've put into their studies this year and what they have learned as a result. As partners in your child's education, your support during this time is invaluable.

Here are a few ways you can support your child during testing week:

  1. Encourage a Healthy Routine: Ensure that your child gets plenty of rest and gets to school on time. A good night's sleep can greatly improve concentration and cognitive function. Avoiding tardiness also goes a long way in easing test anxiety.
  2. Provide Nutritious Meals: A well-balanced breakfast can fuel your child's brain for the day ahead.
  3. Offer Words of Encouragement: Remind your child that you are proud of their efforts. Encourage them to do their best and remind them that their worth is not determined by a test score.
  4. Create a Positive Atmosphere: Help alleviate any test anxiety by creating a calm and supportive environment at home. Focus on fostering a positive attitude towards learning.

Thank you for your continued partnership in your child's education!

Grace & Peace,

Erin B. Henry

Principal

“Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

Curriculum and Instruction

Standardized Testing

Standardized Testing

Please note that our standardized testing will take place during the week of April 15. Grades 6-8 will be testing on Monday and Tuesday, while grades 3-5 will be testing on Wednesday and Thursday. It is vital that students are in attendance on these days. These tests help us understand how to best support our students, both individually and collectively, as we progress in our academic endeavors.

Progress Reports

Our 4th quarter progress reports will be released on Friday, April 19. It is a short 3 week term for the progress reports. Please review them with your child and make a plan. The 4th quarter is very busy between standardized testing, end of the year school events, and extra curricular activities. Please make sure to review the calendar to have a good feel for the last two months of school. FINISH STRONG BLUEJAYS!

Tagged on Tuesday

As we enter the 4th quarter, please remember that the Friday before a Tagged on Tuesday is the cutoff to earn points for that week's tag. The final day to earn points for the year will be Friday, May 10.

Finance Office

FACTS TUITION MANAGEMENT / INCIDENTAL BILLING:

Some of you have (hopefully) received notification from FACTS that your 24-25 tuition payment plans have been finalized. We are still in the process and hope to have it completed soon. If you do not receive an email from FACTS by the end of April, please contact Marsha Granger at mgranger@scsbluejays.org or call 337-837-1864, ext. 222.

Tuition Payment Plans consist of your child’s annual tuition and fees for a school year and include (1) tuition, (2) family fee, (3) technology fees, (4) room mom fees, and (4) class fees. FACTS automatically deducts these fees based on the plan selected during open enrollment. Please refer to the 24-25 tuition/fees information located on the SCS website for specific fee details. As a reminder, sibling discounts are not applied to PreK students.

Incidental Billing is the process by which SCS collects fees other than those included in tuition payment plans. These fees are billed to parents’ FACTS accounts throughout the year for after care, field trips, athletic fees, lost books, etc. This is also the process used by SCS to collect fees due during the registration process. Important to note is that if you are not enrolled in autopay for incidental billing then the FACTS Customer (parent) is responsible for logging in and initiating the payment for each incidental invoice. SCS recommends enrolling in autopay to avoid missed payments and late fees. If you need assistance enrolling in autopay, or would like more information, please contact Marsha Granger.

Invalid FACTS Account refers to a “hold” placed on a parent’s FACTS account due an issue with the financial account on file (expired credit card, NSF, closed account, etc.). When/if this occurs, FACTS can no longer attempt to withdraw funds until the financial account is corrected/updated and/or outstanding fees are paid. In addition, if you are enrolled in autopay for incidentals when an account becomes invalid then, you must “re-enroll” in autopay in order to allow FACTS to deduct fees automatically from the updated financial account.

ROCKIN' WITH THE BLUEJAYS

Join us for Rockin’ with the Bluejays on May 4th at Rock n Bowl to celebrate the end of this school year. Buy your tickets now!

Dear Bluejay Family,

This week saw Mother Nature get the best of the Bluejays. Golf and tennis got rained out on Monday. Only our track team was in action on Thursday of the week. Cheer had tryouts this week and now we have a new cheer squad for next year! Congratulations to the new squad, and we are proud of all of the girls that tried out. The spring season is in full swing as all of our sports will be in action this week, as swim jumps into the action.

The Bluejay track team was in action on Thursday at Catholic High in New Iberia. The kids performed very well again. The kids' scores and marks are improving with each attempt. Like the last meet, kids did events that they had never done before. The coaching staff is beyond proud of the effort that was shown on Thursday night. Please see below the attached spreadsheets for the results for the first meet.

We now turn our attention to highlight the accomplishments of two of our Bluejays, one alum and one current student.

Hayden Hernandez, alum of Class of 2020, has completed his final football season at STM. He had a fantastic career, and has been a defensive star for the Cougars. He was named 1st Team All State, All-Metro Defensive MVP this year. His most impressive accomplishment is he is the record holder of the most tackles at STM with 429. While his football accomplishments speak for themselves, Hayden has always shown his fondness and love for the Bluejays. His leadership is unparalleled. Congratulations, Hayden!

Charlee Gilmore, current 8th grader, and soon to be alum of Class of 2024, was recently invited to play soccer on the Rush Select USA National Team and compete in Spain in the Valencia Cup. Nine countries were represented and over 800 girls were competing in different age groups. Charlee’s USA team came home with the gold! We are so proud of you, Charlee, as you represented us in another country! We look forward to seeing you play in high school and beyond!

Congratulations go out to our 2024-2025 SCS Bluejay Cheer Squad. We are so proud of you as you bring school spirit to all of our events!

In an effort to improve our athletic programs at St. Cecilia, it was felt that a comprehensive athletic handbook was needed. This handbook affects players, coaches, parents, and fans. Parent/guardian completion of this form and adherence to the rules and regulations outlined in the handbook are requirements for participation in athletic programs at St. Cecilia School. The link below will take you to the handbook. It is also on the school website for reference as well. Thank you all for your continued support of SCS Athletics.

For those that have already completed the acknowledgement form, and want to refresh themselves on the rules and regulations, please follow the link below.

****We are so proud of our SCS 7/8th Grade football, 5th Grade White and 7th Grade volleyball teams' fantastic accomplishments this fall. We can now officially celebrate our championships in volleyball and football by purchasing apparel from Action Specialties. These are school approved and can be worn as part of the school uniform. There is a tab on the top horizontal bar for championship apparel. Thanks again for your support of SCS Athletics!

***Thank you for your support of SCS Athletics! To keep up with the schedule for our Bluejays, please follow the link below. Admission into League games are $6 for adults and $1 for kids. SCS staff and students are admitted free.

Have a blessed day,
