Thank you for reading this week’s newsletter.
We have been completing several activities to raise awareness of Children’s Mental Health Week.
Today's ‘Express Yourself’ has been brilliant. I am absolutely delighted with the response from both children and staff to this relatively new Agenda and remain extremely proud of the work we do to support all of our children and families physically emotionally and mentally. Please see the below photos.
I have been asked to remind everyone about safety in general. Some adults are riding on the road on scooters with our children. I would sincerely and politely request that we stop this. Thank you for your understanding.
Remaining with safety, I am delighted to share an opportunity with you all.
There is only ONE post available BUT I hope that there is interest in this opportunity.
We are also looking for relief school meals supervisors. If you are interested in joining our team, please call in to the school office for further information.
In some exciting news, NEXT year’s Year 5 children (current Year 4) will be invited to a Youth Hostel Residential at a very discounted price! Final details are currently being arranged, I just wanted to give you the ‘head’s up.’ We are looking at the first week in November 2025 so watch this space.
Can I please remind parents to ensure that when it is their child's PE day they will need appropriate outdoors sports wear - leggings/tracksuit bottoms, a warm top, hat and gloves
We received a notification from Barnsley Hospice thanking us for our participation in the Elf Run. Raising close to 10% of their final sum, I am bursting with pride at your efforts and those of the children. This most special cause has touched so many of us and I thank you from the bottom of my heart – one of those amazing moments that reaffirms just how pride I am to be Headteacher here!
Reminder - Non uniform Day
On Friday 28th February we will be ‘wearing red’ to support a charity that means a lot to us and our families, The Children’s Heart Surgery Fund. There will also be things for sale after school to help raise funds for this amazing cause. It is a charity that has benefitted children from Birkwood and as many charities do, it conducts some sterling work for those affected. A brilliant cause!
A small cash donation would be appreciated
Don't forget that Grassroots after school care has begun and will shortly run until 6:00 PM.
Grass Roots are also running a club in February Half Term. Please see the details and book using the link below.
Tickets are still available for next weeks Disco. They are available until 3.15pm Tuesday 11th February. The disco will be taking place on Thursday 13th February - 4.30pm to 6pm. Tickets are £3 each and include a bag of crisps and a drink. Please place the money in a sealed envelope, with your child's name on the front, and hand to their class teacher.
As always, I wish you a lovely weekend. Take care and I hope you manage to enjoy some family time.
