The College of Staten Island softball team is ready to kick off their 2026 season against Chestnut Hill College at the CSI Softball Complex, which has been redesigned as an all-turf field. Last season, the Dolphins finished 19-21 overall and 7-13 in ECC play where they fell one win shy of their first ever ECC postseason berth after splitting with D'Youville on Apr. 27. The 2025 season was their best overall performance since entering Division II with 19 wins, but they stayed stagnant in conference play with their seven wins. The Dolphins this season are under new management with Mark Biancoviso being named the 10th head coach of the CSI Softball program when he arrived in January 2026. He brings forth decades of experience coaching softball through youth to the collegiate levels, and he is going to be joined this season by Michael Kaffl, Tom Reno, Alyssa Polemeni, Gianna DeCesare, and Robert Santiago.
Meet the Dolphins' Head Coach
Mark Biancoviso
Biancoviso became the CSI Softball Program's 10th head coach upon his arrival in January 2026. He comes from Xaverian High School where he brings forth a decade of experience coaching at the youth, high school and collegiate showcase levels. In 2017, he established the junior varsity program at Xaverian followed by the varsity squad in 2018. Under his leadership, the Clippers achieved sustained success at the local, state, and national levels, despite being a program less than a decade old.
"While our program has not reached the playoffs in recent seasons, our primary goal is to build a consistently competitive team. To achieve that, we've focused on creating a positive, hard-working culture that encourages our student-athletes to believe in themselves and trust their teammates and coaches," - Head Coach Mark Biancoviso
2026 Key Returners
Kennedie Ruth returns to the Dolphins for her senior campaign and third season with the program. Earlier this preseason, the ECC recognized Ruth as the Preseason Co-Pitcher of the Year, solidifying her status as one of the league’s premier arms. Over the past two seasons, Ruth has served as the Dolphins’ anchor in the circle and consistently ranked among the ECC’s top performers. In 2025, she finished in the top five in several key pitching categories, including ERA (3.41), lowest opposing batting average (.260), and fewest runs allowed (53). She also placed in the top 10 in strikeouts, strikeouts looking, and wins, showcasing both her command and ability to control games in crucial moments.
Motley returns for her junior season with the Dolphins after making significant strides during her sophomore campaign. She posted a .287 batting average, tallying 33 hits and 19 runs scored while also blasting her first collegiate home run. Building on that momentum, Motley delivered several standout performances last season, including two games in which she recorded three RBI and scored three runs, highlighting her ability to produce in key moments.
Warner is a key member of the Dolphins’ large junior class and is expected to serve as the go-to starter in the infield in 2025. She appeared in 40 games last season, batting .297 with 35 hits in 118 at-bats. Warner also contributed 14 runs scored, 16 RBI, and five doubles. One of her top performances came on April 16 at D’Youville, where she went 3-for-4 at the plate, recording a season-high three hits along with an RBI and a run scored.
