LPA Newsletter Monday 8th July 2024

Executive Principal and Head of School Welcome

It has been lovely this week to receive so many positive updates linked to student events.

We have the year 8 football team who won the District Cup. Year 10 Geography students who completed part of their fieldwork which is an important part of their GCSE qualification. The feedback from the staff was a big well done for representing LPA so well.

On Friday we had local employers on site for our Careers Fair. They said the behaviour of the students was excellent. It is so pleasing to hear people from our community praising our students’ behaviour and the way they interacted with the employers.

Our student leadership team did us proud this week when they interviewed candidates for the Principal position and we considered their feedback very carefully alongside all the other tasks and interviews. The update regarding the position will be announced later in the week.

This week has the Summer Cup and the Lip Sync Battle coming up, two big events for LPA. We know the Summer Cup team will represent us well in what is always a very competitive event.

HOUSE NEWS

Thank you to all those who have contributed to the House Food Bank collection. The House boxes are looking full with the count up taking place this week.

The final IN IT TO WIN IT! draw for the weekly 100% attendance is fast approaching with the deadline of Friday 12th July 3.10pm for tickets to be entered into the box. We will be drawing the winners for the £100 voucher and the Tablet week commencing 15th July.

Year 10 Army Visit - Hospitality and Catering

This week we had an amazing visit from the Army for Year 10 Hospitality and Catering students.

During the visit students heard about the Army and career opportunities. Students were then given a ration pack and took part in a team competition - Ready Steady Cook. All students had "an amazing day"

Sports News

Congratulations to our Summer Cup Squad who will be representing Lodge Park at the Summer Cup on Tuesday 9th July. We wish them the best of luck in the competition.

Sports News - Update Year 8 Footballers

A huge well done to our Year 8 Footballers who played in the District Finals this week against a very tough Bishop Stopford team.

The game finished 2-2 with superb goals from Leo and Victor, and the boys went on to win in penalties, claiming the title of district champions this year.
