Croeso nol! Welcome back!

Rainbow Day / PTFA Fete

Thank you to everyone who sent in prizes for the Rainbow Tombola today. It was a really popular stall at last year's fete and it looks like it will be again. Don't forget to save the date for the summer fete: Friday June 21st

Attendance

Attendance certificates have been given out today for all our children who had above 95% attendance for last term (January - March). We've had to re-order prizes for our Gold certificate winners (100%) and these will be given out as soon as they arrive. We have 61 children to buy prizes for which is fantastic - that's back to pre-pandemic levels.

Unfortunately, we still have some way to go overall as a result a significant number of children with low attendance.

Each term we start a fresh. So it is possible that someone will have a 100% certificate for last term even though overall they have attendance below 95%, for example if they had much lower attendance before Christmas as a result of a holiday and then a significant illness.

Dinner Menu

The dinner menu is changing. The new menu has more options and starts on Monday 22/4/24 - please keep an eye out for the dinner email next week!

Having spoken to some of the schools who trialled the new menu we are going to try and stick with the band system and sending out the Google Form but have more coloured bands to reflect the greater choice. It would be hugely appreciated if you could take the time to look at the menu with your child when it comes out before completing the form. This will keep any changes on the day to a minimum (we will continue to check each morning which options the children want). Many thanks for your continued support - this could get very complicated but we believe it is better that the children have the best chance possible of getting their preferred option from the menu!

Sports Day

Sports Day is moving to be earlier in the term. We were finding the second half of the summer term to be too busy and organisation for practices being difficult to organise - Y3/4 swimming after half term being a huge factor along with having a Y2/3 mixed class.

Therefore this year Sports Day for Nursery will be Tuesday 14th May and for Reception - Year 6 on Friday 17th (Rec - Y2 am & Y3 - Y6 pm).

More details for Sports Day & swimming will be sent out before half term.

Please remember to send your child ready to do sports every day (black trainers, trousers, leggings, joggers, shorts) so that we take advantage of the good weather.

Don't forget to send in water bottles & apply sun cream before school if we are lucky enough to have a sunny spell. Please note that we do not recommend that children bring expensive designer water bottles to school - all bottles brought to school are done so at your own risk.

Clubs

Please remember to check the school website to see when clubs are on.

We avoid cancelling any club unless absolutely necessary but don't run clubs on weeks when there is staff training / parents evenings or staff & Governor meetings.

There is staff training next week so the first week of clubs is the week after.

Parents evenings with Mr Davies for Dosbarth Gwyrdd will be that week (same times as originally booked - we will send out reminders next week) but Art Club will still run as Mrs Tucker will cover for Mr Davies.

Unfortunately there are always less weeks when we are able to run clubs in the summer term. Dates are correct up until half term.

The Cardiff City Football sessions have now ended for the year (we book them for Autumn & Spring Terms) so there will be no more football on Tuesdays.

If there is anyone who has been on a waiting list for a club they are now welcome to attend.

Football Team

Well done to our footballers who represented the school this week at the last of the local tournaments. They were a credit to the school.

Last Term's Topic Videos

Please keep an eye out: teachers will be posting their summary videos on Google Classroom so that you can see what the children learned last term (most will go up after school today). We hope you enjoy them!
