First Graders Dive Into Reading With Monthly Book Gifts

Otselic Valley’s first graders received their very first books from their classroom book sponsors -- and their excitement filled the room! Thanks to the generosity of donors supporting the Scholastic Book Campaign, each student will receive a free book every month throughout the school year.

This month’s book, The Ocean Is Kind of a Big Deal by Nick Seluk, was a big hit. Students laughed at the ocean jokes, learned fascinating sea facts, and read along together in class. It was a joyful reminder of how reading connects learning with fun.

Later this month, the first graders will receive their October book, featuring a playful Halloween theme.
