Indiana Center for Prevention of Youth Abuse & Suicide (with support from Sylvia's Child Advocacy Center and Prevent Child Abuse Boone County) Presents Child Lures Prevention

  • Think First and Stay Safe and Teen Lures are comprehensive body safety education programs that teach children in grades K-12 ways to keep their bodies safe. Students will learn appropriate ways to prevent, respond to, and report situations such as bullying, cyber-bullying, and all forms of abuse or neglect. An opportunity to speak with someone about body safety concerns will be offered to all students.
  • The program will be presented to students at Zionsville West on Monday, November 20th and Monday, March 4th. Each presentation will be given in individual PE/Health classrooms at the middle school level, and will last approximately one-half hour. Although not required, each child's attendance in the program is strongly recommended. For additional information regarding our programs, please visit our website at www.indianaprevention.org
  • If you DO NOT consent to your child’s attendance in the Think First and Stay Safe™ or Teen Lures® Prevention programs, please complete and submit the form below by Tuesday, November 14th, 2023.

  • 7th/8th @9:45 a.m.
  • Zionsville West Middle School will celebrate Veterans Day with two convocations on Thursday, November 9, 2023, in our ZWMS gymnasium. We would like to invite members of our students’ families who are veterans to attend the ceremony.
  • The 5th/ 6th grade convocation will begin at 9:00 a.m. and the 7th/8th grade convocation will begin at 9:45 a.m. These programs will last approximately 30 minutes. It is our plan to recognize the veterans in attendance. The information submitted will be included in the program for veterans attending.
  • If you would like to share any photos of veterans in your family, past or present, please send an email to zwmsspecialevent@gmail.com by Monday, November 6th for our video presentation. Please include information and identification with your photos.

BLOCK SCHEDULE

  • With our Veteran’s Day Program coming up, we will be following a Block Schedule on Thursday & Friday, November 9th & 10th. Teachers have already begun planning for this different arrangement of time so that we can utilize it in ways that allow for more full cycles of instruction and better connections.
  • In the days leading up to it, we will communicate with students about this schedule so that they are well prepared, and we hope that their experience is a positive one.
Please join us November 20th from 6-8 p.m. in the Zionsville Community High School Star Bank Performing Arts Center for a free two-hour child abuse prevention training. Professionals from our local child advocacy center will provide training for those who work closely with children in a wide range of roles. After attending this training, you will better understand the scope of the issue, be prepared to take actionable steps toward both preventing and responding to child abuse and be equipped to create overall safer environments for the children in our community. The training session will act as a guide for developing protective behaviors against child abuse. We hope to see you for this important conversation in Boone County. Please feel free to share this invitation with others who might be interested. The children in our community need champions to help protect and support them each day. Register at THIS LINK.

Math Tutoring

  • MATH Tutoring will be on Tuesdays from 4-5pm. Dates for the fall - November 7th, 14th, 28th; December 5th, 12th, 19th.
  • There are also private one-on-one tutoring sessions for all grades and subjects which raise money for Second Helpings.
  • Tutoring sessions not only benefit the middle schoolers, but they also count as service hours for high schoolers.
