RANDWICK BOYS' HIGH SCHOOL 09 AUGUST 2024

Happy Public Education Week!

It is an incredible honour to be a part of such a wonderful school community, and I'd like to take the chance to say a huge thank you to every student, staff member and parent/carer for your part. Public Education Week is a chance to celebrate our amazing teachers and students, and the many achievements of our school. This week, I'm particularly proud of our diverse curricular and co-curricular programs that have occurred, really demonstrating the quality education we offer. Firstly, our NAPLAN results were impressive, with Year 9 results demonstrating exceptional growth and many students were above state average. Well done to all our students and their teachers. Our HSC Trial Examinations are going well, with our invigilators reporting outstanding effort and behaviour from our students. Good luck for the final week! Our Year 9 Sports Gala Day was a huge hit, with both the boys and girls enjoying the activities and time getting to know each other. It was great to see so many parents and carers at our Years 8,9 and 10 Parent Teacher Night on Tuesday. Thank you for coming and engaging in some productive conversations about your child's progress. Today, Year 11 students participated in the MyFutures wellbeing program, reflecting on their top five strengths and how they can be utilised in the next few years as they transition from high school into tertiary education or careers. Finally, I'd like to celebrate the everyday teaching and learning that goes on in classrooms. We aim to provide a nurturing, inclusive and inspiring learning environment, and hope that every member of our school community has something to celebrate this week!

School Absence Notification System

Regular attendance at school is essential to assist students to maximise their potential. At Randwick Boys' High School, we must ensure our school has effective measures in place to monitor and follow up students absences. We are required under Section 22 of the Education Act (1990) to undertake all reasonable measures to contact parents promptly and within two school days of absence. We have implemented additional measures to ensure we are upholding the NSW Department of Education standards here at Randwick Boys' High School. Our school absence notification system consists of a text message, follow up email and Sentral notification in the parent portal, to minimise unexplained absences. An absence is unexplained if parents have failed to provide an explanation to the school within 7 days. Thank you for your understanding and assistance.
