Scenes From: Ice Sculpture Carving

At KUA, campus life heats up when the temperatures drop. On a brisk January afternoon, faculty members and students with no previous experience joined forces to learn the fine art of carving ice sculptures. Together they used chainsaws, ice picks, and even blow torches to create an 1813 tower, a fine-feathered owl, a wildcat, and a pig balancing a soccer ball and mortar board on its snout.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration Asks Students to Dream

KUA took a pause from classes to honor and celebrate the life and spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. this week. Special guests CreativeSoul Photography, Hoop Dancer Eric Hernandez, and Chef Pyet joined student voices in an inspiring and interactive day that highlighted the power of dreams to create a better tomorrow.

Teams of students - and one brave faculty child - worked together with CreativeSoul Photography in a workshop designed to empower kids to live as their authentic self.
May this MLK Day serve as a reminder that the power to transform dreams into reality lies within each of us. - Matthew Williams, Dean of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Separation from Smartphones

Through KUA design, we utilize research-informed teaching and learning strategies so that we can best deliver an experience that will support students in their educational, social, and emotional lives. Each month we’ll share a research-informed strategy you can use at home in the areas of relationships, learning, individuality, and wellbeing.

This month, learn that when it comes to smartphones, a little separation delivers a whole lot of good.
