CCY Parent’s Day Out will be entering its fourth year this September. This will mark four years of planting seeds of faith, cultivating love, and growing the future! That is what we strive to achieve every Tuesday and Thursday as we welcome families from all over our community. We open our hearts and classrooms to children fifteen months through four years old. Teaching them about God, His promises, and love. Working on motor skills, practicing independence, and finding time for lots of play and fun!
What began as six kids and one class has multiplied into fifty kids and five classes this past summer. Fifty kids, and their families to pour love into. When I began this ministry I knew I would be ministering to small children and was prepared to do so. What was totally unexpected was how much I’d be ministering to their families who visit at the door as they drop off and pick-up their children. I listen to their struggles, pray for illnesses, share their joys and milestones. I spoke with another director who shared with me that her pastor referred to the families in her care as her ”flock”. He told her she was the minister to these people that come into her church and trust their children in the care of her ministry. I believe this to be exceedingly true and have found it to be such a joy to share their lives and share the love of Jesus with them.
Another unexpected part of this ministry is the relationships built with the teachers that work for CCY Parent’s Day Out. Many are young moms with children of their own. The PDO ministry allows them to work and bring their kids with them. Others are young ladies who love working with children! These ladies are dedicated and hard working. Like the families we serve, I get the privilege of hearing their stories and sharing their lives.
Whether I am ministering to families or teachers I have the privilege of demonstrating the very essence of what CCY is all about, why we exist, and what we believe. I get to be the hands and feet of Jesus while doing what I love, caring for families; a chance I would not have if it was not for the willingness of CCY to want to minister to our community. Seeking needs and helping to fill those gaps. Safe, loving, childcare could be seen as a business, but CCY took the chance four years ago to turn that business into a way to minister to families that walk through our door to bring their kids to our program. God keeps revealing new ways to do that each and every day as I serve in this growing ministry. Please join me in celebrating the anniversary of this invaluable ministry and pray God uses us in incredible ways as we begin a new school year!
Change isn’t always easy, but sometimes it is just what the doctor ordered. Over the last few weeks, our children’s spaces have undergone some much needed change. Fresh paint on the walls, new flooring and sinks in the bathrooms, and a good ol deep clean. The rooms look brighter, and more welcoming, and while we still have some decorating to do, we are so excited for the kiddos to enter the space ready to play and learn about Jesus.
I must be honest, this change was pretty bittersweet for me. As I walked down the hall I had to pause and think of the last 11 years I have been teaching in these rooms, flashbacks of all the children I have taught and the memories we have made flooded my mind. I am reminded in these moments that Ecclesiastes 3:1 tells us that there is a time for everything. Paint colors and murals on the wall may come and go, but how exciting is it to create a clean and fresh space for our little ones to come learn about their Creator.
Shortly PDO will start it’s fall session and those rooms will be filled weekly with laughter, excitement, and joy. I can already imagine the crafts, Bible stories, and songs coming from that hallway!
At the end of the day, this remodel is more than just new paint and furniture. It is a reminder to our children that they matter and this is their church home, and that we love them and we are excited about what God is doing in their lives. With that I want to thank every single person who has helped with this project, from donating time and money during the chili cook-off, showing up at all hours to remove heavy, bulky furniture, prepping the rooms, painting the rooms, cleaning, putting furniture together, and setting the rooms back up. Nothing went unnoticed, and I want you to know that I appreciate you more than words can describe.
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Today, the words of Prophet Jeremiah resonate deeply: “They dress the wound of my people as though it were not serious, ‘Peace, peace,’ they say when there is no peace” (Jer. 6:14; 8:11). This reality echoes in our world today. Thailand, once known as the most peaceful nation, is now embroiled in war with Cambodia. Burma (Myanmar) remains a tragic zone of violence, causing endless suffering for its people. Yet, despite these conflicts, the Good News of Jesus Christ must still be proclaimed.
Burma's Evangelistic Work Continues Amidst War and Violence
In Yangon, evangelists continue to reach out daily with the message of Jesus Christ. Many are coming to faith and being baptized. Due to the ongoing conflict, many people from all parts of Burma have fled to the larger cities like Yangon and Mandalay, seeking safety in urban areas. Evangelists in Yangon minister to these refugees, offering them opportunities to hear and respond to the Gospel.
However, food scarcity remains a significant challenge. We do our best to provide necessities, like rice, when funds allow. The church members in Yangon are also suffering due to the civil war, with many losing their jobs and livelihoods. Nonetheless, our evangelistic efforts prevail, trusting in God's strength and guidance.
Outreach in Arunachal Pradesh
We have been committed to reaching the Lost Sheep of the Rvwang people in Arunachal Pradesh for many years through periodic visits. Three months ago, we sent two evangelists to establish closer contact with the people there. These evangelists are based in Nagaland and are also attending a Bible college there. We discovered that Nagaland serves as a strategic gateway to reach the Rvwang community in northeastern Arunachal Pradesh.
Please pray with us for the success of this outreach. Currently, the rainy season has made access difficult, and travel will only be possible again after October. We will keep you updated as our efforts progress.
Update on the Thailand Ministry
We recently started reaching out to the Lisu village near a Karen Christian community. Initially, this village was resistant to Christianity; however, in recent years, they have shown a growing interest and invited us to send an evangelist. Evangelist Duangjan has begun visiting and sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ, and the villagers have warmly welcomed him. Please join us in praying that the Lord will soften their hearts and open their minds to the Gospel.
Boonporn has been faithfully reaching out to young people in Karen villages, especially those struggling with drug addiction. Through God’s grace, several young men have broken free from drugs. One of them, Duangjan, is now joyfully serving as an evangelist to the Lisu people in nearby villages. Alongside this, Boonporn continues to pour her heart into the Mercy Home ministry in Chiang Mai, touching many lives with Christ’s love.
We thank you all for your faithful prayers and financial support. Without your help, we could do very little. May the Lord richly bless you all.
In Togetherness for the Lord's service,
Jerry and Boonporn
"But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children." – Psalm 103:17
At Christ’s Church of Yukon, our grandparents are far more than caregivers or observers. They are mentors in faith, encouragers in prayer, and living examples of what it means to love God and people across every generation.
Some of you are raising grandchildren. Others are quietly investing in young lives through prayer, presence, and spiritual wisdom. Each one of you plays a vital part in what God is building at CCY.
We see Bob and Jennifer Bamman, tirelessly serving in practical ways - renovating the kids’ bathrooms, helping paint the nursery, and still making time to love on families by hosting birthday parties, delivering meals or writing notes. Melissa Wrona glows with joy as she welcomes her second grandchild, the first through her own child. Joe Quickel faithfully clears flower beds at church, often with his dogs by his side.
Bill Denison lights up when talking about his grandkids. Whether he’s mentoring teens at House of Healing or encouraging young men like Zack Strong, his heart for the next generation shines. Mike and Renee Knight are always ready to help with their grandkids when needed, modeling love and consistency. Mike Slifer proudly wears his grandson’s soccer team shirt and proudly shows photos of them to us.
Monica, Joanna, and Ardel are walking the road of raising their grandchildren with strength and grace. Drew and Natalie Hamilton lean into their grandsons' unique talents, from chili cook-offs to playing musical instruments. John and Kathy Miller quietly pray over CCY’s people, their faith forming the foundation of many unseen miracles. And the Withingtons stand as a legacy in motion with 35 grandchildren!
Tammy Davis, even while facing health challenges, faithfully steps in to help care for Tori’s kids so she can serve the church. Steve Wilkening is often joined by his grandson as he serves in quiet but powerful ways. Judith Reid offers a grandmother’s love in every hug and word of encouragement. Sam Minick rarely travels alone; his kids and grandkids are his favorite companions. Janet and Mark Zybach are another great example of faithfully stepping in when needed.
The Holdens make regular trips to Texas to support their grandkids, showing that love makes the miles worth it. John Smith remains a steady spiritual example for his family. Diane Brewer ensures her grandchildren have the opportunity to be in church and steps in to volunteers at kids’ camp when needed. Dana and Todd Park show up regularly, leading by example as they bring their grandkids with them.
Rosemary Dietz lovingly cares for her grandkids while her daughter-in-law works, offering a steady presence of grace. Patty Hathaway never hesitates to hop in the car and drive across the country for a visit. Laurie Johnson is known for planning creative trips and memory-making adventures with her grandchildren. Kathy Thorne, full of love for her grandson Milo, pours time and creativity into preparing kids' crafts each month for Christ’s Closet.
And to all the grandparents we haven’t mentioned by name, please know this: we see you. Your influence may be quiet, but it is lasting. Your prayers, hugs, rides, meals, and wisdom are shaping lives and building God’s Kingdom.
Like Lois in 2 Timothy 1:5, you are passing on a sincere and vibrant faith. Your legacy lives on in your children, your grandchildren, and in the life of this church.
Happy Grandparents Day. We honor you, we love you, and we thank God for you.
With love, Your CCY Family

WEDNESDAY MORNING LADIES BIBLE STUDY | 9:30 AM
Wednesday Morning Ladies' Bible Study at 9:30 AM in the Celebrity Room, starting on Wednesday, September 3rd. Every day, we fight a battle against an enemy who wants to wage war in our minds. The relentless assault of so many forces competing for our attention can be overwhelming. Perhaps the greatest casualty in this battle is our own peace. The good news is that we don't have to live in this mental war zone. We have the power, through Jesus Christ, to defeat the enemy and take authority over our minds. Our Good Shepherd has set a table before us, and the enemy has not been invited to join.
- 📅 When: Wednesdays, starting September 3rd at 9:30 AM
WIDOWS CONNECTION | 1ST AND 3RD THURSDAY OF THE MONTH

NEW SERMON SERIES STARTS SUNDAY, SEP 7TH!
Jesus Set the Standard. Jesus didn’t just teach truth; He lived it. He is our perfect example of how to live and how to love. With so many powerful teachings from Jesus, it can feel overwhelming to know where to start. What did He emphasize the most? What commands rise to the top when it comes to loving God and loving others?
In this series, we’ll look at some of the core teachings of Jesus, foundational truths that other lessons point back to again and again. Our prayer is that as we study together, we’ll grow to love what Jesus loved and learn to love people the way He did.
We hope you’ll join us on this journey.
