Kia ora koutou, it has been so good to see everyone at our community events over the last two weeks. First of all catching up with our parent volunteers at a morning tea to thank them for their help over the year. Our classes, trips and events all run so much more smoothly when we are supported by our awesome parent community. And then, of course, we had our Community Picnic on Wednesday evening. It was such a great evening and we loved seeing the community relaxing in the sunshine, enjoying a picnic dinner and so many people joining in games across the field. The singing in the hall afterwards was lovely and our choir appreciated the chance for a public performance before they head down to Maygrove Retirement Village to perform next week.
As well as the singing in the Hall, we announced our Values Trophies winners for 2024. All of our students have demonstrated our values of Kaitiakitanga, Manaakitanga, Whakapuāwai and Turangawaewae; but these students recognised on Wednesday have really shone in one of these areas this year. Congratulations to all those nominated by their teachers and those chosen by the Leadership Team as the winners for 2025:
Kaitiakitanga: Nominees were Kiean Coetser and Nathan Yang. Congratulations to trophy winner Finn van der Walt.
Manaakitanga: Nominees were Sebastian Dodge and Taylor Williamson. Congratulations to trophy winner: Lili Hector.
Whakapuāwai: Nominees were Alex Davy and Edgar Malikov. Congratulations to trophy winner Isobel Tennant.
Turangawaewae: Nominees were Zyk Guylan and Aadhya Patel. Congratulations to trophy winner Mia Jomon.
2024 End of Year Reports
Our report page will be available for viewing from 3pm on Friday 13th December, with a curriculum highlight, updated progress chart and general comment added. You can access this information by clicking in to the 'Nukumea Report 2024' page. If you want to know more about the terminology used in the progress charts, click 'About This Page' and it will bring up our Hero parent presentation. We will not be printing reports however you are able to print your own copy if you wish by clicking the print icon at the top of the page. Access to learning content on Hero has been turned off from Monday 2nd December to allow teachers to populate the report page.
A reminder that students who have NOT had 10 weeks at school (this affects our new entrant students and any student who joined us in Term 4) will not be receiving an achievement report. This is because they haven't been at school long enough to meet the achievement benchmarks. All new entrant students who have not completed 10 weeks at school will have a meeting with Caroline Smeed, where she will comment on our transition to school goals. Whānau teachers of other students who joined us in Term 4 will be in touch to update you around how your child has settled at Nukumea.

Nukumea Garden Summer Help
We need help over the Summer so that our garden doesn't dry out and die while school isn't on. If you are around over the summer break and able to help out once or twice with watering our garden, please sign up on this Holiday Garden Timetable with which days you can help. Details are on the spreadsheet and will also be followed up with an email from Samantha Mottram to all those who volunteer. First pick of the summer harvest is available for those who volunteer. Thanks so much for your help!
