fall season '23 REVIEW
Welcome to the Athletic Department's fall edition of our newsletter!
With what seems like the blink of an eye, the Fall 2023 season is already over. From mid-August through the first few weeks of November, over 800 student-athletes and 60 coaches worked tirelessly in their quest for success. Commitment on the playing surface was balanced by the same effort in the classroom. New opportunities led to lasting memories. And Kenmore West Athletic Hall of Fame inductees were celebrated during Homecoming weekend.
This fall season would not have been possible without a number of people playing important roles each day. A sincere thank you to the following groups and many more:
Student-athletes
Families
Coaches
Health Office Staff & Athletic Trainers
Event Workers
Buildings & Grounds
With contests beginning this week, there is so much to look forward to for the winter teams. Best of luck to our Bulldogs and Blue Devils!

UNIFIED EXTRAMURAL BOCCE
This fall we offered a wonderful new experience for our Unified athletes and partners - bocce! In collaboration with the Niagara Frontier League, both Kenmore East and Kenmore West competed against other bocce teams at three different events, two of which were hosted in our district. The Bulldogs and Blue Devils showed off their skills, won matches, and created great memories! Congratulations to all who participated in the first season of bocce.
NEW PROCEDURES FOR WINTER SPORTS

CHAMPIONSHIPS
Congratulations to our Ken-Ton Athletes that competed in and won championships this season:
Amelia MacKinnon - Kenmore Girls Swimming
Amelia MacKinnon, a ninth grade student-athlete at Kenmore East, won the 50 Freestyle at the Section VI Swimming State Qualifier meet at SUNY Fredonia on November 2, 2023. MacKinnon then became the number one seed at the State Championship two weeks later. There Amelia competed in both the 100 and 200 yard freestyle events, finishing 13th in both events.
In 2022, during her first visit to the state meet, she finished 32nd in the 50 Free and 23rd in the 100 free. Throughout the season, MacKinnon also broke three more school records, her own 50 and 100 Freestyle records that she set in 2022, and the 200 freestyle record set in 1996 by Hall of Fame Inductee Jennifer Broderick-Henninger. MacKinnon is the first female swimmer to compete in the NYS Championship Swim Meet meet since Broderick-Henninger's last competition as a Senior in 1996.

The HOF was created in 1994 to recognize the tremendous accomplishments of our athletes, coaches, teams and contributors. Ken-Ton has a long and storied history in athletics and this process gives us the opportunity to highlight the best of the best. The induction ceremonies are one of the highlights of the year.
