Autumn bathes Munich in warm light, while the Oktoberfest welcomes its guests on the Theresienwiese. The sweet scent of roasted almonds mingles with the savoury aroma of freshly baked pretzels, and the clinking of beer steins echoes through the air.
Lively music, colourful traditional attire, and the exuberant atmosphere of the festival grounds transform the city into a stage for pure joie de vivre.
Beyond the festival tents, Munich reveals its elegant side. Against the baroque backdrop of Nymphenburg Palace, visitors stroll through expansive gardens, while the Viktualienmarkt entices the senses with regional delicacies. A rickshaw rattles over the cobblestones of the old town, passing magnificent façades, historic taverns, and the bustling Marienplatz – the vibrant heart of the city.
Then, the scenery changes. The streets give way to dense forests, rushing streams weave through gentle hills – the Black Forest unfolds its magic. Freiburg, with its winding alleyways and imposing Gothic cathedral, welcomes visitors with a Mediterranean flair. In Triberg, Germany’s highest waterfalls thunder downwards, while intricately crafted cuckoo clocks in shop windows reflect the region’s centuries-old craftsmanship.
The shores of Lake Constance draw near, bringing with them a truly special place: the island of Mainau. A sea of colours spreads out – exotic blossoms, baroque parkland, and ancient giant trees form a masterpiece of horticulture in the middle of the water. Finally, the gaze lifts skyward: a scenic flight over the lake reveals the panorama from a fresh perspective, marking the perfect conclusion to an unforgettable journey.
A Land of Contrasts: The cheerful spirit of the Oktoberfest and the tranquillity of a Black Forest trail. Between baroque palaces, thundering waterfalls, and blooming islands unfolds a journey that uniquely blends tradition and nature.
