The Career Planning & Development Center (CPDC) looks forward to assisting employers in connecting with students and developing branding efforts on campus.

There are a variety of ways to help your organization stand out and gain the attention of our students. Find some ideas below. The National Association of Colleges & Employers (NACE) also offers some advice and articles about building your talent pipeline and recruiting entry-level talent.

Career & Internship Fairs

The CPDC typically hosts a few career fairs throughout the year that allow your organization to meet our talented students and recent alumni. Career fairs can provide tremendous visibility to build your brand awareness and the unique opportunity to meet and interact with candidates. Registration will take place through Handshake.

Panel Discussions

CPDC occasionally collaborates with academic departments and student organizations to offer career panels on a variety of career topics. Let us know if you wish to participate as a panelist. There are usually representatives from several organizations who discuss preparation for the career field, typical responsibilities, career paths, etc. Attendance varies, but these can be great opportunities to connect with students and share your industry expertise.

Student Showcases

Academic schools/colleges, departments, and programs occasionally host showcases to promote student achievements through student projects, portfolios, etc. Some examples of showcases include the Department of Art, Design and Art History (DADAH) Showcase, WebsterLEADS Academic Poster Sessions, Research Across Disciplines, Media Academy Student Showcase, and more. If you are interested in learning more about particular programs or ways to see student present their work, please connect with us. You can also find a variety of events listed on the university calendar.

Handshake Events

An event on Handshake is a session where a company can provide valuable insight and details about their organization. The event can also provide an opportunity for students and alumni to learn more about potential roles that are available within the organization. The events are typically conducted virtually, but can be hosted in-person at your organization. Find more information about how to request an event on Handshake.

Courses

Faculty will sometimes collaborate with employers such as having them speak on a particular topic for their course or serve as an evaluator for a company case study or mock campaign. If you are interested in this, you can reach out to careercn@webster.edu for suggestions or contact an academic department directly. Ultimately, it is up to individual faculty if they are willing to adjust their course curriculum and bring in an industry perspective.
