Welcome to West Meadows Weekly!
We are excited to announce that our Christmas Fair will be on Thursday 5th December. Children can be collected from external classroom doors at 2:00pm to go to the fair with a parent/carer. There will be lots of stalls including our popular chocolate tombola, games to play, refreshments, a raffle and of course a special visit from Santa! On the week of 2nd December (and during the fair) I will be selling raffle tickets each morning on the school playground. We can’t wait to see you there!
On Friday 29th November (next Friday) we are holding a dress down day where in exchange for bringing a bottle children can wear what they want for the day. We are collecting bottles for one of our Christmas Fair Stalls - it can be a bottle of anything (wine, beer, pop, bubble bath, ketchup!).
As part of our Christmas Fair, on the week commencing 25th November, children can bring a chocolate bar in for our chocolate tombola in exchange for a raffle ticket to win prizes in our Children’s Raffle! They will get one raffle ticket for each bar of chocolate they want to bring in. Any chocolate bars can be brought into class.
As you will be aware Miss Galbraith is currently absent from school and will be starting her maternity leave early. Mrs Smith is currently teaching the Year 4 class (except on Fridays when they have Mrs Sutton as usual). We would also like to welcome Mrs Cuthbert to the West Meadows team who will be Assistant Headteacher in school in Miss Galbraith’s absence. Mrs Cuthbert is an experienced leader who works for St. Mary’s Academy Trust and we are excited for her to join us. You will see her out in the playground and around school on Mondays to Thursdays each week and I know she is excited to work with us all.
Our Christmas trees in school this year will be decorated with wooden decorations that the children have designed and made in school themselves. These can then be purchased by families for 50p at the end of term. We would like to say a massive thank you to our PTA volunteers for organizing this for our children and school!
Concert tickets will go on sale on Monday 2nd December on Arbor for this year’s performances. Due to the number of children involved in our Key Stage 2 concert, tickets will initially be limited to 2 per child to ensure all families get a chance to come and watch. We will then email out if there are any additional tickets by Wednesday 11th December. For the Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 concerts we will not be setting a limit. Tickets will be £1 per ticket.
As our Christmas concert and performance rehearsals get into full swing, our assembly times are often taken up with practicing in the hall. Therefore we will not be having Special Mention assemblies until January when we will start inviting the parents/carers of our Star of the Week back in to watch them get their certificate. Each week until Christmas children will be awarded a Star of the Week and Reader of the Week award in class. Look out on class Twitter pages for the winners each week.
Every Friday we will celebrate our children’s achievements, both in school and at home, including their attendance in school. Good attendance is vital for your child’s education and means they can make the most of all aspects of school life. We really need your support this year to raise our attendance. If you need any help or support please come and see Mrs Maree. You can see your own child’s attendance for the year and the last 4 weeks on the Arbor App. An attendance of 97% or above is considered to be good attendance.
