Welcome back Year 4! We had a slightly shorter week as we started back on Tuesday, but we still managed to fit in some exciting activities. In PE, we began learning a new sport for this half term: hockey! The children did a fantastic job focusing on how to hold the hockey stick correctly and practised passing the ball carefully to their partners.
Our oracy assembly with Year 3 focused on the emergency services. The children listened carefully and shared their ideas confidently in pairs and trios, thinking about the important roles that emergency services play in keeping us safe.
On Wednesday, we took part in a Red-Start session where we explored the idea of borrowing money. The children learned about the differences between credit and debit cards and began to understand what it means to be in debt. We then had lots of fun playing a board game where we had to decide how to spend our money wisely. The children thought carefully about essential needs, such as food and rent, compared to non-essential items like holidays. There were some brilliant discussions and thoughtful choices made!
To round off the week, the children enjoyed their music lesson on Friday, where they were looking at creating motifs.
